About Vancouver’s North Shore Tourism Association

Vancouver’s North Shore Tourism Association (VNSTA) is the official Destination Marketing and Destination Management Organization (DMO) representing the City of North Vancouver, the District of North Vancouver and the District of West Vancouver. VNSTA works collaboratively with local tourism stakeholders, local municipalities, and Destination BC to promote the region as a premier year-round tourism destination.

Position Overview

The Marketing Manager plays a key role in the planning, development, and implementation of marketing initiatives that promote Vancouver’s North Shore as a leading tourism destination. Working closely with the Executive Director and the Director, Stakeholder and Community Engagement, the Marketing Manager will lead the organization’s marketing activities.

This position requires a collaborative and hands-on skilled who is comfortable working in a small team environment where flexibility and cross-functional support are essential.

The role is home-based and requires strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently while maintaining strong communication with the VNSTA team.

Occasional evening and weekend work will be required to attend conferences, support trade shows, industry events, and community activations on the North Shore and Metro Vancouver. A vehicle is required to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Marketing & Planning

- Develop, implement, and evaluate annual marketing plans aligned with VNSTA’s strategic priorities.
- Manage Destination BC Cooperative marketing programs in collaboration with the Executive Director and the Director, Stakeholder and Community Engagement.
- Identify emerging marketing opportunities, industry trends, and potential challenges impacting the destination.
- Assist in developing annual marketing budgets with the Executive Director.




- Track, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for marketing initiatives and campaigns.

Digital Marketing & Website Management

- Oversee the management and ongoing development of the VNSTA website, ensuring accurate and engaging destination content.
- Coordinate digital marketing initiatives with external digital agency including search, display, social media, and content campaigns.
- Oversee search engine optimization (SEO), website analytics, and user experience improvements.
- Ensure the VNSTA brand is consistent across all digital channels.
- Plan, manage, and evaluate digital and print advertising campaigns.
- Respond to marketing inquiries and promotional requests.

Content Development & Asset Management

- Manage VNSTA’s digital asset library and oversee the Crowdriff platform and visual content.
- Coordinate videography and photography projects in collaboration with the Executive Director and external vendors.
- Serve as copywriter for marketing materials, website content, and advertising campaigns as required.
- Capture photography and video content to support marketing and social media initiatives.
- Ensure marketing materials accurately reflect the destination’s experiences and tourism offerings.
- Maintain awareness of local tourism offerings, experiences, and industry developments.

Social Media & Online Presence

- Oversee VNSTA’s social media channels, including coordination with external agencies responsible for digital strategy.
- Monitor online engagement with visitors and partners.
- Monitor online reputation and conversations related to the destination across platforms such as TripAdvisor and other review channels.

Reporting & Research

- Monitor tourism trends,



visitor behaviour, and marketing performance data.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform marketing strategies.
- Prepare marketing reports and updates for the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
- Track campaign results, engagement metrics, and visitor trends to support data-driven decision making.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

- University degree in Marketing, Communications, Tourism, Business, or a related field, or a combination of education and relevant experience.

Experience

- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on marketing experience, preferably within tourism or destination marketing.
- Experience working with cooperative marketing programs and industry partners is considered an asset.
- Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) experience is highly desirable.

Skills & Competencies

- Strong understanding of marketing strategy, branding, and campaign management.
- Experience managing digital marketing platforms and external agencies.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret marketing data and performance metrics.
- Experience developing and managing marketing budgets.
- Exceptional organizational and project management abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and effectively from a home-based office environment.
- Flexibility and willingness to contribute across multiple areas of a small organization.
- Knowledge of the British Columbia tourism industry and the North Shore destination is an asset.

Technical Skills

- Website content management systems (WordPress experience)
- Social media management platforms
- Digital asset management tools (Crowdriff experience an asset)
- Marketing analytics tools (Google Analytics or similar)
- Microsoft Office / Google Workspace

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
