THE ROLE:

The Equipment Technician/Assistant Course Manager reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent. They are responsible for the preventative maintenance, operational standards, diagnosing, and repair of the turf equipment and cart fleet while actively engaging in ongoing planning and applications of agronomic and maintenance programs.

ACTIVITIES:

The duties and responsibilities for the Technician/Assistant Course Manager include, but are not limited to the following:

- Ensure the proper representation and follow-up reporting of the golf course department Develop and implement a preventative maintenance schedule for all the turf equipment including professional mowers,



utility vehicles, tractors, small equipment, and golf carts.
- Assists in strategic planning of maintenance programs and supervising/training of the maintenance team in relation to operation of the golf course equipment
- Assists in agronomic planning, practice and application
- Ensure proper washing, storage of maintenance equipment, and shop cleanliness on a regular basis
- Inspect, diagnose, service, and repair all mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
- Maintains parts inventory, tools, and clean work area.
- Perform welding and fabrication as needed
- Adhere to safety standards, equipment lock-out protocols, and safe equipment operation.
- Very heavy work – exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- Maintains, sharpens, and performs daily set-up of cutting units
- Perform other duties as required

COMPETENCIES WE ARE SEEKING:

- Proven experience in repairing golf course turf equipment or similar
- Secondary Education/Diploma/Certificate in Turfgrass Management an asset
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repair
- Ability to interpret manuals and schematics
- Valid Driver License required
- Computer Literate in Microsoft
- Strong Problem Solving and Interpersonal Skills
- Highly responsible and reliable
- Ability to lead, inspire, work cohesively with fellow peers and colleagues, and independently
