The Maintenance Supervisor will supervise the completion of maintenance work by tradespersons and contractors. They will also oversee the completion of inspections and repairs of equipment assigned to them. The Supervisor will perform regular inspections and audits to ensure the equipment's health. They will ensure that their team meets safety objectives and adheres to policies and procedures.
- Supervise and coordinate subcontracted services and maintenance personnel, assign work orders, prepare and deliver safety brief and work instructions.
- Ensure maintenance trades are adequately trained and equipped, track training activities of trades workforce assigned to their crew, ensure crews have the correct equipment and training to complete assigned work.
- Ensure maintenance activities are properly documented and filed, create work orders to address equipment and system deficiencies.
- Understand the function and operation of equipment under their responsibility, support crew with technical knowledge of equipment.
- Review operations of equipment and safety standards, perform regular tours of areas of responsibility to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
- Ensure tradespersons compliance with safety policies and procedures, review safety policies and procedures with tradespersons, perform field audits to confirm compliance.
- Trade certification or college diploma is required (industrial electrician, industrial mechanic, heavy duty mechanic, and instrumentation technician).
- Preferred certifications include Project Management Professional, Certified Planner, CADD, CNC, machinist, vibration analysis, oil analysis, infrared thermography, acoustic emissions, electrical equipment testing, non-destructive testing,
online equipment monitoring, power generation, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
- Must have the ability to work effectively with Computerized Maintenance Management System. Proficiency with J D Edwards E1 would be an advantage.
- Preference given to a candidate who has maintenance supervisor or planner experience.
Maintenance supervisory/manager experience in an industrial setting (electrical, mechanical, mobile, instrumentation, facilities, and reliability). Preference given to a candidate who has supervised multiple skills from the list above.
Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
