The ideal candidate should have educational experience workingnin First Nations, as well as outstanding organization, communication, and leadership skills. This is a rewarding opportunity if you have an appreciation for First Nation culture and a desire tonparticipate in the enhancement and growth of a First Nation as it enhances its Education program.nDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES nnDevelop best teaching practices.nImplement different curricula based on grade level and school subject, choose textbooks and classroom materials.nTake the necessary steps to provide a safe and caring setting that fosters well-being and maintains respectful and responsible behavior for each student.nTake the necessary steps to provide for the safety and welfare of students while participating in school programs or while being transported to or from school programs on transportation provided by CPFN.nTake the necessary steps to provide facilities to accommodate CPFN students.nProvide leadership in all matters relating to education in Chipewyan Prairie First NationnDevelop and implement financial plans, and policies to support the educational organization's goals and objectives, as identified by leadership.nEnsure that effective and appropriate educational programs are delivered to all students.nEstablish and maintain clear,
consistent expectations that encourage pupils to pursue educational goals.nDevelop and maintain positive and effective relations with staff.nDevelop and maintain positive and effective relations with surrounding schools and board departments.nProvide leadership to promote clear, consistent, expectations that focus on successful outcomes for students.nProvide leadership for the development and review of a multi-year strategic plan.nFacilitate the planning, development, implementation, review and evaluation of policies.nProvide leadership in the planning, development, implementation, review and evaluation of administrative procedures.nEnsure that open, transparent and positive internal and external communications are in place.nParticipate in community affairs in order to enhance and support the CPFN Education Program and promote public education. nParticipate in the educational operations of the organization, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.nEnsuring effective communication and collaboration with leadership and senior management. nStrong understanding of Indigenous Services Canada Programs as it related to the Education program.nEnsure monthly financial statements are complete and released in a timely manner.nMeeting with Finance Director regularly to develop and review monthly statements to ensure financial reporting that is timely and relevant to their operation and/or funding agreement and management work plans.nExperience and understanding in nominal roll reporting process.nCollaborate with other departments to support business development initiatives and ensure financial feasibility as required from time to time.nWork closely with the Administrative Director to coordinate and prioritize financial issues as it relates to the education area.nTravel as required.nMaybe be required to taken on additional duties from time to time.nnQUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: nnAble to supply a clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector.nAbility to communicate in the Dene language is an asset.nStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.nStrong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and responsibilities.nAbility to work independently and with others in a team environment.nMust have strong numerical, verbal, and written skills.nAbility to maintain confidentiality with respect to business matters.nProficient in financial software systems and Microsoft Excel.nValid class 5 Driver's License & Clean Driver's Abstract RequirednSuccessful candidate will be required near Chipewyan Prairie First Nation, Alberta (located 127 km south of Fort Mc Murray). nnEXPERENCE nnA Bachelor's Degree in Education. n5+ year of experience working with First Nations and understand the federal programs and reporting requirements.nStrong understanding of curricula, as it relates to each grade level.nExperience working in a First Nations community including knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions and values.nExperience meeting deadlines under pressure.nnBENEFITS: nnDental CarenExtended Health CarenEmployer Matching Retirement Savings PlannPaid Vacation & Sick TimenCompetitive SalarynnSalary based on experience and qual
