You've got the space to grow, the balance you need, and a place that gets it.It feels different — because it is.It's a place that works for you.Summary Of DutiesTo perform skilled tasks involving the repair, maintenance and installation of municipal facilities and equipment with emphasis on performing scheduled preventive maintenance of heating, cooling and ventilation equipment.Duties And Responsibilities(These set out the principal functions of the position, and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements.)Maintain heating, cooling and ventilation equipment by inspecting, troubleshooting, cleaning, adjusting and monitoring the equipment and performing scheduled preventive maintenance.Lubricate fans, motors and control units.Clean ducts, condensing coils, fans, water basin pans and drains.Install and replace air and water filters.Repair installed units by replacing defective breakers, controls, switches, contacts, fuses, relays and associated wiring.Keep equipment in a good condition and rust free by cleaning and painting as required.Replace shaft and bearing assemblies.Check and adjust belt drives for alignment and tension and replace worn or defective belts and pulleys. Make necessary adjustments to ensure efficient operation.Inspect humidifier system and perform scheduled filter and bottle changes.Maintain service documents, inventory records, inspection check lists and prepare written reports on equipment condition and maintenance requirements.Use and maintain hand and power tools, measuring, testing and troubleshooting devices for electrical, plumbing and mechanical equipment.Install or dismantle components such as blowers, fans, motors, starters, etc., as required to carry out inspection or repairs.Ensure equipment is safe to operate, securely stored and practice positive housekeeping of vehicle and work area.Provide excellent customer service;
respond to needs of allcustomers and staff as required.Efficiently and accurately complete paperwork (e.G. daily performance logs,
time sheets and accident reports).Perform other similar and related duties as required.Position RequirementsGrade 12 Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) Certificate.Valid - Standard First Aid / CPR C Certification as recognized through the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB).Valid Gas Technician 1 Licence (G1 ).Valid, unrestricted Class "G" driver's licence held in good standing. "DZ" licence preferred.Formal training and experience with the Occupational Health and Safety Act in particular as it relates to maintenance and construction activities (e.G. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fall arrest, trench safety). To be comfortable at heights and the physical capacity to perform heavy lifting up to and including 30kgs.5 years of experience in mechanical and electrical equipment with previous experience in servicing HVAC equipment over 400,000 BTU's.Proven ability in other building trades.A demonstrated commitment to enhancing a safety culture. Knowledge of City of St. Catharines safety policies preferred.Demonstrated knowledge of the Ontario Traffic Manual with emphasis on Book 7 preferred. Ability to safely set up traffic control in work zones during roadway or utility construction and maintenance operations.Ability to meet the physical demands of the job as described in the physical demands analysis (PDA).Availability to work flexible hours (e.G. working shifts for a 7 day, 24 hour operation, overtime, winter control).Willing to be trained on and operate snow removal equipment, when required.Effective time management skills and attention to detail with the ability to organize work to meet deadlines, multi-task and work independently in situations with minimal supervision.Exceptional customer service skills with a strong sense of public service and cooperation, and well developed abilities to deal with the public and citizens' groups.Basic computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office Suite an asset.Job DetailsJob ID: Pay Rate:39.14Hours:40 per weekSchedule:Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PMLocation:St. Catharines, ONWork Mode:In PersonEmployee Group:CUPE Local 150Position Type:Permanent, Full-timeDuration:PermanentApplication Deadline:Until FilledJobs with an application deadline will close at 11:59 PM on that date.
