Reporting to the Coordinator, Records Management and as an integral part of the Records Management team, this position will assume responsibility for the monitoring of documentation to ensure compliance to established standards. The duties of this vital position include the review and prioritization of all requests received by the organization for access and/or disclosure of Personal Health Information (PHI). The position mandates frequent interaction with legal offices, patients, physicians and their office support staff, external health facilities, government agencies on related requests for PHI and to ensure consistent and timely processing of access/disclosure requests.
Rate of Pay:

$24.827 per hour - $31.034 per hour
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week


Successful completion of a two year Health Information Management (Canadian Healthcare Association) Diploma
One year of recent related experience
Membership in good standing with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA)
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer and Outlook
Recent experience with Cerner and PowerChart
Advanced knowledge of Privacy and related legislation as it applies to Access and Disclosure of Personal Health Information
Knowledge of chart documentation practices and requirements for legal releases
Detailed knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, medical terminology and abbreviations commonly used
Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple and changing demands
Excellent verbal and communication skills with the ability to communicate objectively and effectively with patients and outside organizations
Ability to handle highly confidential information
Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail

Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety
Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
