Status: Permanent Full-time University Health Network (UHN) is looking for an experienced professional to fill the key role of in our Electrophysiology Department. It has one of the largest hospital-based research programs in Canada, with major research in transplantation, surgical innovation, cardiology, infectious diseases, genomic medicine and liver disease.  POSITION: The Clinical Electrophysiology Technologist in Electrophysiology will work with the team to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to deliver safe and efficient patient care and outcomes. These procedures will include but not be limited to Pacemaker/Defibrillator programming and procedural support in device implants, ablations, and other EP procedures. Responsibilities will include safe operation and troubleshooting of equipment, manual and electronic documentation and patient care activities as required to achieve results. The technologist will practice in a collaborative team and patient centered way. The technologist will comply with departmental and hospital policies and practice in a competent manner. QUALIFICATIONS: At minimum, completion of a recognized 3 year community college Cardiac Technologist program Bachelor of Science Degree preferred CSCT (Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists) registration Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S) Minimum 3 year experience related to Cardiac diagnostic testing in a similar setting Previous experience with pacemaker, defibrillator and CRT programming required Previous experience with supporting device implants, ablations and other EP procedures in the OR or cath lab environment required Knowledge to independently operate and troubleshoot equipment in the electrophysiology (EP)laboratory (cardiac stimulator, data acquisition/monitoring system, radiofrequency energy generator, cryo-energy console) Identification and interpretation of intracardiac electrocardiograms during an electrophysiology (EP) study.  Ability to perform atrial and ventricular pacing studies in an EP study Ability to work full shift wearing mask and lead aprons Previous experience starting IV's Experience with cardiac anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology Excellent problem recognition and problem solving skills Effective time management skills, ability to organize work and set priorities Effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to multi-task Ability to work effectively as a team member Ability to work as an autonomous professional Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast paced environment Ability to work accurately under stressful conditions Ability to meet patient care needs Demonstrated commitment to continuing education Computer literacy Knowledge of hospital emergency codes and procedure POSTING DATE: April 1, 2019 CLOSING DATE: until filled For current UHN employees, only those who have successfully completed their probationary period, have a good employee record along with satisfactory attendance in accordance with UHN's attendance management program, and possess all the required experience and qualifications should apply.
