Institutional Securities Technology (IST) develops and oversees the overall technology strategy and bespoke technology solutions to drive and enable the institutional businesses and enterprise-wide functions. Position Description: Morgan Stanley's AI Center of Excellence (AI-COE) responsible for working with business and IT teams across the firm to solve mission-critical problems. We are a highly motivated and collaborative team consisting of AI researchers, data scientists, machine learning engineers and members from academia. Our team is uniquely positioned to apply advanced AI to the most important problems in finance. NLP Research Scientist Morgan Stanley Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence (AI-COE) is responsible for helping the firm harness the full potential of AI and Natural Language Processing. We are a highly motivated and collaborative team consisting of AI researchers, machine learning engineers and members from academia. Our team is uniquely positioned to research and apply state-of-the-art machine learning and NLP to mission-critical business cases. Responsibilities: - Lead AI projects and develop models in collaboration with strats, quants and traders - Independently work on end-to-end development of models using trading data, market data, alternative data and data from other internal/external data sources - Manage and mentor a group of researchers - Work with stakeholders to refine requirements and communicate progress - Drive idea generation, rapid prototyping and iterative model development - Study recent research and conduct original research - Be an advisor in one or more areas of machine learning - Attract top AI talent - Speak in internal and external forums Qualifications Required: - Research level understanding of core machine learning fundamentals - In-depth knowledge of deep learning architectures such as CNN, RNN, Auto Encoder, GAN and VAE - Strong command over linear algebra and statistics - Experience in leading a team of researchers and research engineers - Ability to quickly translate ideas to efficient, elegant code in Python and Tensorflow - Experience in model tuning and parallel model exploration - Ability to combine traditional techniques and cutting-edge research to develop novel models - Excellent communication and presentation skills - Expertise in one or more areas of applied machine learning such as NLP, Computer Vision or Signal Processing - PhD in Computer Science with focus on Machine Learning or related field Desired: - Experience in time series analysis and sequential data using ARIMA, Kalman Filters, HMM, RNN etc. - Reinforcement learning experience in continuous state/action space is highly desirable - Experience in Bayesian Modeling using MCMC, SeqMC and newer techniques like Variational Bayes - Research publications Knowledge of French and English is required.
