To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com What You’ll Be Doing Fund & Investment Governance is responsible to provide the first level of oversight and reporting on sub-advisors’ investment activities in CIBC and Renaissance families of mutual funds and managed portfolios as well as managed segregated wrap portfolios.





The oversight is to ensure the portfolios adhere to legislative and regulatory requirements, corporate policies, guidelines and industry best practices. This position will be responsible for the review of the portfolio managers, including sub-advisors’ investment processes.. How You’ll Succeed

- Fund & Investment Governance Acumen - Perform and enhance monitoring of portfolios’ transactions and holdings to ensure compliance with securities legislation and investment policy guidelines as agreed to by investment managers. Act as back-up for running automated monitoring. Perform analysis of portfolio holdings and transactions that cannot be monitored electronically. Assist in maintaining thorough documentation of monitoring performed and communication of exceptions. Review of new Exchange Traded Funds.
- Analysis and Reporting - Provide regular reporting to Senior Manager, Asset Management Fund & Investment Governance and participate in meetings with the Asset Management Fund & Investment Governance group. Must be able to analyze output from various sources to determine validity of exceptions. Assist in production of regular compliance certificates, which document exceptions (Monthly Manual Checks). Perform completeness and accuracy checks on parameter inputs to monitoring system.
- Relationship Building - Distribute, follow-up exceptions with portfolio managers and CIBC Asset Management stakeholders until timely resolution or escalate. Provide responses to queries from various stakeholders including internal audit, external audit, CIBC Asset Management and regulators. Respond to queries, both verbal and written. Queries may include regulatory requests. Make recommendations to resolve issues and work with parties to implement recommendations.


Who You Are

- You have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in investment industry, or mutual fund industry
- You have advanced knowledge of Excel, including the ability to understand and build macros, pivot tables and other features in order to efficiently identify positions, trends and enable analysis of the information.
- You have strong technology skills. Working knowledge of FMC PCVIEW and Mellon Analytical Services’ Compliance Monitor is a definite asset
- You are a certified professional. Completion of Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and CFA or working towards the CFA designation is an asset.
- You’re an organized person. You are able to manage several small to medium sized projects concurrently involving complex changes to technical or business environment. You work well under pressure, with tight deadlines, and sometimes competing objectives.
