Ambassatours Gray Line, the region's largest tour company, is seeking dynamic, organized individuals for part-time, seasonal positions as Cruise Coordinators at its operations base in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Can be close to full-time hours in September & October.
Our seasonal Cruise Coordinators plan, execute and deliver all contracted shore excursions offered to our various cruise clients (the cruise lines). The Cruise Coordinator may oversee a small team of staff members who ensure guests are placed on the correct tour, tickets are collected and accounted for, itineraries and departure times are adhered to, and working as one team to ensure successful arrivals for the clients.
Reports to Cruise Operations Manager, Team Leader,
- follow a pre-determined dispatch schedule that has been outlined by the cruise line - collect and account for all tickets selling tours - account for all guests while shore side awaiting tour dispatch - plan and organize buses and groups for departure from dock playing the role of a cultural ambassador - exchange pleasantries with guests and answering tidbits of information - provide guidance and taking control of a group while in your care - work well with local tourism suppliers, tour operators, Port staff and other Ambassatours Gray Line/Murphy’s staff
- daytimes, operate every day of week - seasonal position from now to early November - variable hours, variable dates - may include possible travel - irregular work schedules that take place over 7 days per week
MUST HAVE FULL AVAILABILITY to work through Sept & Oct
high-school diploma or the equivalent willingness to participate in and receive, on-the-job training
- professional manner and appearance - effective communication and conflict resolution skills - strong performance in custodial abilities - organizational and record-keeping skills - ability to work well under pressure, and follow assignments - enthusiastic about to sell Atlantic Canada as a travel destination - excellent organizational skills - flexibility to work shifts including early mornings, evenings, holidays and weekends - excellent oral and written communication skills - ability to communicate in either German, French, Spanish an asset - strong observation skills, attention to detail, cleanliness & aesthetics of working space - friendly, customer-focused personality
Location of work: - cruise terminals on Halifax waterfront
Job Type: Part-time, seasonal with possibility of returning annually
Salary: $12.36 /hour
