Position Overview

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and results-oriented Compensation Policy Manager to formulate compensation policies for Canada Post employees by analyzing and preparing economic and labour information. You will be called upon to work collaboratively with all parts of Human Resources and the organization to provide advice on compensation policy matters throughout the Corporation.

The manager is responsible for developing,





analyzing and preparing information used to create and execute compensation-specific policies. As a partner to the business, the manager uses his knowledge of the economic and labour market environment to implement compensation within the context of both current and future drivers, in collaboration several levels of the organization. As a compensation expert, the manager is a key resource for Human Resources and provides the tools and training that will enable them to meet the needs of the businesses they support.

The successful candidate will


- Design and implement Compensation Policy to attract and retain employees; manage project teams for this purpose.
• Provide expertise in: job pricing; compensation related aspects of Canadian collective agreements; economic forecasting as it relates to the Canadian labour market; and compensation related program and policy trends.
• Manage policies such as At-Risk Pay, Team incentives, Sales compensation, base salaries, travel allowances, automobile allowances, etc.
• Assume Management responsibilities in the areas of program and policy administration, research and market pricing, and special projects.
• Provide leadership, mentoring and development opportunities for compensation management team members.
• Develop and prepare evaluation guidelines and administrative procedures in the application of compensation.
• Develop and maintain contacts with compensation professionals outside Canada Post in order to keep abreast of new developments and to contribute to those professional associations.

Job requirements (Education and Work experience)
- Bachelor’s degree in business or humanities
• Master's degree in Business Administration or Human Resources an asset
• Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) and/or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation would be an asset
• Minimum 5-7 years related experience in compensation, human resources, or finance
• Effective organizational skills with the ability to manage a large number of tasks and responsibilities
• Strong communication skills (oral and written)
• Demonstrated research and analytical skills as well as a customer service orientation
• Strong coaching, mentoring, and facilitation skills
• Ability to maintain information in confidence and exercise good judgment is essential
• Proven ability to develop effective relationships and gain credibility across diverse groups
• Ability to diagnose and successfully manage compensation related issues
• Ability to use MS Office suite including advanced Excel
• Bilingual will be an asset.
