Following the recent acquisition of Pretivm, Newcrest now own and operate the Brucejack Mine located 65 kilometers north of the town of Stewart in northern British Columbia.





The Brucejack underground mine is one of the largest and highest-grade gold mines globally and as of January 1, 2021 has proven and probable mineral reserves of 3.9 million ounces of gold (14.4 million tonnes grading 8.3 grams per tonne gold) with a mine life of 12 years.



The Opportunity:



We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Janitor Lead Hand to join our Camp Services team located at the Brucejack Mine.



The Janitor Lead Hand is to assist the Housekeeper Supervisor with the planning, organizing, and developing of the overall operation of the Janitorial team in accordance with the local standards and guidelines along with ensuring that quality care is maintained at all times. To share the responsibility of staffing, training, and developing hourly staff.



The position also ensures compliance with all Pretium Resources Inc.'s "Pretivm" Health & Safety and other relevant policies and regulations. This position is accountable for the overall hygiene, cleanliness and organization of the camp and administration buildings.

As well as adhering to all health and safety regulations and company standards/policies and procedures.



Perform following duties, with safety being the number one priority



Meet Daily with Housekeeping supervisor to discuss any duties or requirements pertaining to work area.

Provide janitorial staff with positive leadership and set an example of expected requirements.

Supervise the daily activities of the Janitorial Department to include appropriate cleaning offices, washrooms, dries and all public spaces. As required in all the facilities.

Foster a proactive safety culture for the janitorial team. Ensure that staff is working safely, in accordance with Pretivm policies and department SOPs.

Perform daily inspections to ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout camp, and follow up to promote high quality, consistent work from the housekeeping team.

Manage inventory of janitorial supplies,

distribute to work areas as necessary.

Provide training and instruction to the janitorial team.

Plan, organize, and direct daily workload for the janitors team.

Issue keys, check lists and work assignments to the janitorial staff at the beginning of shift and collect at the end of shift.

Ensure that staff is properly trained on use and care of equipment, report any equipment deficiencies.

This is a field leave supervisor working position and requires a minimum of 75% of your time spent completing site janitorial tasks daily.

Assist with general cleaning, including, but not limited to: trash removal, dusting, cleaning washrooms, break rooms, offices, dries and others.

Assist with floor maintenance, sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming floors, carpet cleaning and others.

Must be able to read and explain SOP and SDS sheets.



Perform other related duties as required.

Participate in education programs and trainings.

Attends meetings as required.

Complete assigned task in a professional manner and with the time frame provided.

Represent the department with a professional and positive attitude.

About You:



Previous experience managing a team of janitors employees through motivation, coaching and development is and asset but not required.

The ability to multitask, anticipate guests needs, and to changes goals/ direction quickly.

Knowledge of Janitors processes and procedures.

Proven excellence in customer service

Capable of using independent judgement/ solid decision-making ability

Must be able to interact effectively with management, front office, and guests.



Verbal communication skills that allow others to clearly understand your meaning.

Ability to write clearly and effectively using proper English conventions

Capable in Microsoft office, committed for further training.

Must be able to effectively manage own time as well as that of the janitor’s team.

The ability to teach others

Valid drivers license required.

Work at remote location (camp) on a 13 days on/13 days off rotation

Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening

Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift

Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shifts

The ability to work in areas of extreme weather conditions

The ability to work in close quarters with the team
