JOB SUMMARY This position manages volunteer intake, training, and orientation. The Alzheimer Society of Waterloo Wellington currently has 100 volunteers working in the program, administrative, and other support roles. The Volunteer Coordinator also provides some assistance to the Special Events and Social Media Coordinator for events and social media. This position falls within the fund development department of the Society and its activities, which contribute to the fund development objectives of the organization. This position reports to the Director of Fund Development. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES Volunteer Coordination Source and recruit volunteers through various techniques (databases, e-mail, social media etc.)

Complete volunteer intake package in accordance with ASWW volunteer policies Arrange for appropriate training and orientation. Schedule volunteers appropriately to fulfill the responsibilities of their role. Develop volunteer role descriptions in conjunction with the positions staff leads. Communicate frequently with volunteers and staff leads to ensure the placement is meeting the needs of the program and the volunteer. Maintain appropriate records on ASWW volunteer program including statistical records. Plan appropriate volunteer recognition initiatives including an annual volunteer appreciation activity. Assist with the creation of and posting of social media materials Assist with special events as needed Knowledge and Awareness 1. Maintain current knowledge of Alzheimers disease and related dementias. 2. Participate in appropriate professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge. 3.

Ensure up-to-date and thorough knowledge of current best practices in volunteer management JOB QUALIFICATIONS Degree or diploma in a related field or equivalent experience Certification in volunteer management or equivalent Minimum 1-year experience in coordinating volunteer programs Exceptional interpersonal skills Demonstrated oral and written communication skills. Strict attention to detail and accuracy Skills and experience in various social media platforms Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, databases, and the internet. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.
