Your New Role We are currently seeking a Specialist Engineer, Project Geology to join our Planning, Engineering,

Technology & Development team in Sudbury. This is a permanent position. The Specialist, Project Geology is responsible for all geological work to support FEL1 and FEL2 studies for the North Atlantic Project Studies Team across multiple Open Pit and Underground Mining projects. The Project Geology Specialist is responsible for geological, geotechnical, and metallurgical drilling programs, while ensuring the projects are delivered within scope, cost and schedule and ensuring the safety and quality objectives agreed for the project are met. Additionally, in this position you will Health, Safety and Environment Lead and actively promotes behaviours aligned with Vales safety goals for all partners including employees, consultants, customers, and members of the community Accountable for achieving zero harm by participating in the design of safe working systems, site inspections and safety interactions in their project area and ensuring all follow-up actions are carried out.

Promote a healthy working environment Perform site visits and inspections of both Open Pit and Underground Mines Perform interactive audits with Diamond Drill Contractors, Core Loggers, and consultants responsible for collecting geotechnical, structural, and hydrogeological data People Effectively communicate with peers, consultants, and partners regarding SEC requirements Communicates and collaborates closely regularly with project team, consultants, and internal specialists with respect to the outcomes of the geology, geotechnical and metallurgical work to ensure that goals and priorities are clearly understood Recommend to the Manager Underground Projects opportunities for project de-risking and cost optimization such as scheduling improvement, drill program optimization and safer techniques Coordinate the use of and liaise with consultants where required for specialist work (ATV, OTV, geophysics.)

Work collaboratively with the geology and exploration teams to ensure that up to date geological, structural, hydrogeological, geotechnical and resource models are available for use by the mining team Leadership Lead the Geological input for the project Technical Assurance Reviews, Qualitative Risk Assessments, Engineering Assessments and Maturity Assessments and ensure follow-up actions are completed. Collaborate with Project Team, Owners team, consultants, drilling contractors and Mine Operations to ensure no aspect of the project is overlooked or lags in progress and assists in the development and implementation of recovery plans. Mitigate deliverable delays by coordinating the different fields and establishing priorities.

Lead the preparation of Geological and Hydrogeology Scopes of Work Oversee contract management to ensure accurate submission of work and approval of all Contract Changes as it relates to geological scopes Manage the drilling program to support geological, geotechnical, hydrogeological, and metallurgical data collection and ensure that data is collected according to prescribed standards Manage the preparation and technical review of geological and structural models Output Responsible for the planning and budgeting activities for all geological and drilling activities Provide feedback into mine design criteria related to Cut-Off Grade, Ore Blending, and Mineability & Dilution Review existing drill programs and propose and communicate changes that would benefit the project Develop drilling programs to support the next phases of study Compile and prepare all documentation required to support the MRMR declaration in compliance with legislation Responsible for the preparation and review of all Geology and Metallurgy work for all projects in the portfolio Prepare mineral resource estimations for all projects in the portfolio and complete QA/QC reviews mineral reserve estimates Ensure compliance of resource estimates with standards and regulations for public disclosure working Vales Resource Management group Lead work on Resource Conversion for FEL studies What you need to succeed Education: Undergraduate degree in Geology or Geological Engineering required P. Eng. designation is required PMP certification is preferred Skills and Experience: 11-15 years of experience in a similar subject area Unwavering commitment to safety Experience in delivering FEL 1/2/3 level studies Preparation of annual budgets Experience in Mineral Resource Estimation Methods and knowledge of regulations and policies Use of industry standard 3D geological modelling Tools (i.e. Datamine, Leapfrog) Experience in developing and managing diamond drill programs Underground, open pit and processing experience (technical and operations) Solid understanding of mineralogy Knowledge of Mineral and Metallurgical Processing Good communication and organization skills. Ability to work with various groups and gain alignment. Flexibility for domestic travel.
