Our clients include government agencies (municipal, provincial, and federal), property owners, contractors, developers, realtors, architects, and other engineering and consulting firms.



A specialist in: Environmental assessments and investigations. Site remediation and reclamation. Environmental permitting and project management.



Hydrogeological engineering. Geotechnical engineering. Hazardous Building Materials assessments and abatement planning.



2CURRENT OPPORTUNITY We are regularly requested to provide biology, habitat, and fisheries-related consulting services to our existing clients. We currently sub-contract much of this work to senior biologists at other firms, with Active Earth technicians providing field monitoring support as required.



We are now developing the capacity to provide these services in-house. We are seeking a talented and capable Senior Aquatic Biologist for our Metro Vancouver or Fraser Valley office, who will be responsible for: Leading and growing our new biosciences division. Establishing and mentoring a team of qualified staff to enable the division to succeed.





Developing client relationships. Pursuing creative and innovative project tools and techniques, to add value where possible. Preparing workplans, proposals, cost estimates, and responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) or Requests for Qualifications (RFQs).



Directing, overseeing, coordinating, managing, and executing various biology, habitat, and fisheries-related projects as required. Service areas are anticipated to include but not be limited to: Habitat assessments and habitat compensation planning. Riparian



Areas Protection Regulation (RAPR) assessments and watercourse classifications. Application for notification, authorizations and/or permits under Provincial and Federal legislation, including the BC Water Sustainability Act, BC RAPR, Federal Fisheries Act, and Federal Species at Risk Act. Fish salvage and bird nesting surveys.





Marine mammal observations. Environmental Monitoring. Construction Environmental Management Planning.



The biosciences team will have access to all existing Active Earth resources, including junior scientists and Biologists in Training (BIT), CAD/GIS resources, project management resources, administrative resources, etc. 3QUALIFICATONS The successful candidate will: Be registered as an R.P.Bio. in BC.



Have a minimum of 10 years of consulting and/or industry experience providing biology services in BC. Possess significant expertise in Aquatic Biology, including assessment, permitting and compliance. Have a strong understanding and interest in the business aspects of the consulting industry.



Have the desire and ability to lead a new service group within an established consulting firm. Possess a demonstrated ability, aptitude and interest in:

Working in a leadership role. Managing consulting projects successfully and effectively (on-time and on-budget).



Hiring and mentoring staff and contributing positively to the company culture. Preparing and/or reviewing technical reports and proposals. Planning and undertaking various biology, habitat, and/or fisheries projects.



Working both collaboratively and independently, as warranted. Managing multiple tasks simultaneous and effectively. Communicating clearly in English, both orally and in writing.



Directing subcontractors in a sound, safe, and respectful manner. 4PAY, BENEFITS & HOURS This will be permanent fulltime salary position, with a minimum of four weeks paid annual vacation.



We anticipate a salary of $100,000 to $135,000 per year. Actual salary will be negotiated and will be commensurate with experience.
