Environmental Health & Safety Specialist Reporting to the Manager,

Environmental Health & Safety the Specialist is accountable to serve as technical advisor and coordinator of Corporate environmental & health & safety compliance programs. These programs include but are not limited to: completion of regulatory reports, hazardous materials and hazardous waste management, source separation programs, facility wide testing (air/noise/water), fire plans, safe work procedures, assessing potential risks and developing strategies, reporting and documenting investigations and develop conclusions/recommendations in regards. In addition, identify and provide corrective action for Environmental, Health and Safety issues as legislated and/or regulated, and develop and initiate appropriate measures through policies, SOG's and training initiatives. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Work site analysis ensuring compliance with facilities Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) -if applicable (tracking/updating annual acoustic assessment report and emissions dispersion model/ministry report submissions). Implementing corrective measures to meet requirements.

Coordinator of hazardous waste program (ministry reports: TRA, NPRI/HWIN: payment of manifests, inventory tracking, setup and management facilities waste class disposal ID's) Working with the Ministry of the Environment & Ministry of Labour ensuring the company is operating within their guidelines including completing regulatory reports. Including completing annual reports not already listed eg) RCF Annual Summary. Develop and coordinate the companys source separation program (including introducing new waste initiatives/tracking reports/etc). Implement programs and policies to reduce the cost of waste disposal, recycling and hazardous waste removal. Approving invoices and tracking generated material send out for recycling/disposal. Complete annual waste audits and subsequent reports for each facility.

Coordinating of the spill response program (Training/procedures/supplies/authority contact). Develop and organize industrial hygiene sampling testing programs (emissions/water/noise - exposure levels). Including establishing hearing protection zones and control exposure. Develop training that is required to meet both Legislated and Regulatory requirements and the needs of the organization including but not limited to: LOTO, Hazard Communication, Hot Work, Respiratory Protection, fire safety, etc. Identify, develop and initiate programs that meet current industry and best practices by facilitating audits which identify areas in need of further improvement. Example: identifying current chemical usage, new product reviews and implement process changes to reduce the environmental impact and improve Associate safety. In addition,

complete specialty reports such as TD's Environmental and Social Risk Borrower Questionnaires & Statistics Canada's Environmental Protection Expenditures. Developing RFQ/RFPs, project management, and vendor support during the implementation. Work in junction with Facilities to ensure septic systems are properly maintained in accordance to facilities ECA and if applicable City Bylaws. That includes ensuring regular maintenance is conducted, maintaining a logbook, completing required annual tests, etc. Communicates to all stakeholders (management, associates, and concerned citizens) in written and verbal communication on regulatory affairs. Provide support to the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC). This includes providing EHS technical expertise to safety related matters (eg. Work refusals, code & standards, follow up activity to audits and resolution to CAR follow-ups etc.). Compliance with all Company-wide policies.

Education and Experience: University Degree or College Diploma in Environmental and Health & Safety disciplines Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in related discipline (EP) Environmental Professional Certification and/or willing to register/acquire (EPT) Environmental Professional In-training. Additional professional designation (e.g. CRSP, CET) is considered an asset Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project) Solid knowledge of the ESA and OH&S; Act Specialized Skills: Environmental industrial hygiene Occupational hygiene Working knowledge of federal, provincial, and municipal environmental laws and regulations, Waste management Human factors Work site analysis, health & safety, and ergonomics.
