Registered Nurse (RN) 16 Month Contract Full-time 37.5 hours/ week Grand River Community Health Centre is looking to build a staff team to support an emerging, community-based safer opioid supply program. The program provides clients with regulated alternatives to street level drugs in an effort to reduce death and harms associated with the toxic illicit supply. We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse to work in the Brantford-Brant Safer Opioid Supply (BBSOS) pilot program. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, the RN works to full scope in the provision of safer supply and primary care support for people who use drugs. The RN will be conducting screening/ intake assessments for potential BBSOS clients.
They will support direct patient care, facilitate connections to community services, liaise with the BBSOS team for care coordination, provide health promotion/ education, and advocacy in order to improve the health and quality of life of individuals accessing the BBSOS program. The role will engage in ongoing training/ capacity building and will support safer supply capacity within the Brantford-Brant area. The RN will also support processes for program improvement and evaluation as needed. Hours of work primarily days but to include some evening, weekend work as required. Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Nursing; current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Minimum of 2 years nursing experience. Primary care, community health or street nursing experience is an asset. Demonstrated experience in harm reduction and knowledge of injection drug use; values aligned with an anti-oppressive harm reduction approach to service delivery. Experience in overdose prevention/ response; knowledge of Naloxone administration. Demonstrated knowledge of infection control practices.
Demonstrated experience in conflict de-escalation, interpersonal relations, and counselling skills. Strong communications skills. Experience in program development, implementation and evaluation is an asset. Strong understanding of the social determinants of health. The successful candidate will be required to provide a police vulnerable sector check as a condition of employment.
