We are looking for one (1), full time, forty (40) hours a week, Child and Youth Care Worker to join our dynamic and talented team! This position has a weekly schedule of Tuesday - Saturday.

Program Overview:

Zeno House is made up of a team of dedicated caregivers providing service for children with developmental disabilities including but not limited to Autism. This is a highly structured and routine based program designed to accommodate children’s stressors and individual service plans



The Meaningful Work You'll Do:

As a Child and Youth Care Worker, you will be responsible for assessing the needs of the individual, providing counselling and teaching of basic life, community, living, and harm reduction skills that allow the client to minimize the participation in high-risk activities, and develop independent living abilities. The Child and Youth Care Worker will maintain a safe, warm and positive environment where individuals feel welcomed and loved.



Managing a caseload of 1-2 clients

Developing and overseeing service plans for individuals dealing with substance, mental, and/or physical abuse. Support clients to access resources relevant to addiction and mental health

Collaborating with clients and their support network to set and maintain goals relevant to enhancing life skills, decreasing severity of issues to successfully transition to independent living.

Assisting clients in overcoming barriers, and supporting them to develop positive and healthy relationships with family, peers, employers and other personal support

Supporting clients through life skills teaching and in-the-moment learning, with a hands-on approach

Teaching clients to develop self-advocacy skills. Assisting clients in developing a realistic financial budget. Assisting with developing home maintenance and organization including cleaning routines, meal preparation, etc.

Ensuring clients basic needs are met (food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, safety, etc.) and assisting with apartment searching

Facilitating monthly life skill sessions or arranging sessions through guest speakers.

Submitting required program documentation with established time frames

Other duties as required



Education and Qualifications:

A Diploma/Degree in Human Services (or equivalent)

A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with children and/or youth who are pregnant and plan to parent their children or already have children and require supports to parent.

Experience with children and family programming, youth in care, residential care, and case management is a requirement of this position.

Certification or training in Aboriginal Awareness, Abuse Awareness, Standard First Aid, Medication Administration, and Violence/Crisis Intervention is a definite asset.



The ideal candidate will have an organized and compassionate approach to the work, strong teamwork skills, a commitment to developing positive supporting relationships. Other qualifications include:



Proven ability to provide effective communication, collaboration, crisis intervention, and conflict management with clients

Demonstrated assessment, problem solving, and critical thinking skills

Demonstrated knowledge of harm reduction principles and practices; circle of courage philosophy, strength based and resiliency focused assessments

Knowledge of community resources is an asset

Intermediate competency with Microsoft Office and other Agency computer applications

Demonstrated ability to act with professionalism, confidentiality, and diplomacy

Proven case documentation and effective information reporting practices

Valid Driver’s License



Police Information Check including vulnerable sector search, Intervention Record Check and/ or summary of driving record with no more than six (6) demerit points are conditions of employment and the financial responsibility of the candidate.
