Under the guidance and direction of the Systems Coordinator, the Systems Control Technician will maintain control systems hardware and software, participate in control system project coordination and liaise with stakeholders on all process and related control systems located in Wastewater treatment facilities. The Systems Control Technician will provide control system services to various wastewater treatment work groups; maintenance, operations, infrastructure delivery engineering, process optimization and planning services. This position focuses on “OT” operating technology control systems. Communication Networks, process control database maintenance and configuration. Primary responsibilities include:

Maintain and upgrade:

process control system

data historian

heating ventilation and air conditioning

power management control system

Field-bus device communication systems

Organize and develop databases and control system algorithms.

Develop and edit graphical visual equipment and software.

Maintain and update drawings and system documentation.

Manage and configure communication systems including “LAN” Local Area Network switches, routers, firewalls and automated security appliances.

Evaluate and implement control system operator work station interfaces, remote and portable human machine interfaces.


A completed 2 year diploma or degree related to control systems and at least 5 years of experience in the installation and implementation of control systems, related to plant and remote wastewater treatment facilities.

Applicants must have configuration experience with Programmable Logical Controllers (PLCs), Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and Distributed Control System (DCS), Industrial Control Networking and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.

Excellent working knowledge of process control computer programming, networking, device protocols, Field Bus systems and communication network equipment.

Database development with time series and relational database applications. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite, and Excel macro programming.

Success in this position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to quickly and independently acquire new knowledge, skills and technologies.

Days of Work: This position works a 4 day

work week. Monday to Thursday, OR Tuesday to Friday from 7:00am to 5:00pm

Hours of work: This position works a non-standard 40 hour work week.
