Your Opportunity:

The manager is the primary contact for community based clinical services for the child/adolescent addiction and mental health services in the city of Red Deer. The position is responsible to the community and to AHS to ensure effective care of people needing timely, compassionate, and appropriate mental health services and commensurate with the vision and mandate of AHS. This position is the primary lead in the development and provision of outpatient clinical programs. Additionally, the Manager is responsible for budget management and day to day maintenance issues, human resource and performance management; including recruitment, performance management,

progressive discipline up to and including dismissal in consultation with Director and Human Resources, accountability for budget forecasting and budget adherence for a multi-million dollar budget. The manager adapts organizational business and strategic plans and priorities to address operational and resource challenges and oversees supervisor/charge nurse and leads together to supervise front line staff in the delivery of addiction and mental health services based on best and promising practices. The results obtained are primarily achieved through the work of the front line team. This Manager works collaboratively as part of a team of managers responsible for community youth addiction and mental health services in Red Deer. This Manager also will oversee Centralized Access for Central Zone Addiction & Mental Health. Initial placement for this manager is at the outpatient clinic in Red Deer and providing supports throughout the City. This position is a key member of the Red Deer Children’s AMH leadership group and works collaboratively with the larger Central Zone leadership team.

Required Qualifications:

Advanced skills, knowledge and ability are required to lead and manage a diverse portfolio that includes cross-ministerial and community involvement. Areas of knowledge are not limited to acumen of clinical aspects, and include business management, clinical business leadership, human resources, quality management, capacity building and accountability. Educational Background: Social Worker, Psychologist, with 5+ post-licensure years’ experience in Addiction and Mental Health Services and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a manager or management role. Must be a member in good standing of a regulated profession governed under the Health Professions Act and be able to manage and provide supervision to regulated members of the team. Extensive experience in managing and leading others in a unionized environment. Class 5 non probationary Drivers permit is required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

In-depth working knowledge and experience in addiction and concurrent disorders, prevention and health promotion, and operational management functions such as leading, planning, controlling and evaluating units of work. Extensive experience in managing and leading others in order to achieve key operating results is also a major responsibility of this role. Members of regulatory bodies must maintain active registration i.e. ACSW, APA.
