Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager of the Southern Alberta Forensic Psychiatry Center (SAFPC), the incumbent's primary purpose is the role of the Not Criminally Responsible Due to Mental Disorder (NCR-MD) coordinator. The incumbent will act as a conduit for services across the Calgary zone. Including the Southern Alberta Forensic Psychiatry Centre, Forensic Outpatient and Assessment services and the Lighthouse and Bright Harbor community rehabilitation programs. The incumbent will also assist/work with he Medical director of the SAFPC in the supervisory role for the NCR population in Southern Alberta in liaison with the Alberta Review Board (ARB).

The incumbent will integrate and coordinate a system of the NCR patient management and flow throughout the province, which will include providing a coordinating role in the implementation of comprehensive treatment plans through the Individual Patient Profile (IPP). Expected outcomes will be the development of a consistent, coordinated process to ensure effective communication between internal and external stakeholders related to the NCR population.


As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years experience in Forensic Psychiatry. Current Social Worker II license that is in good standing from a recognizes University. Current membership with the Social Worker's affiliated regulating body/association. Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills. Extensive knowledge in completing psychosocial assessments, and communicating with internal/external stakeholders and patient collaterals. Considerate judgment and initiative required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Forensic experience in an inpatient or outpatient service would be an asset.
