HOURS: Currently Days, 8 hours
(Subject to change in accordance with the operational requirements)
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Reporting to the Clinical Service Manager, the successful candidate will collaborate with Registered Dietitians to teach on all aspects of diabetes management, including insulin pump therapy to patients and their families.
Current registration, and in good standing, with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Baccalaureate degree (or in progress)
Certified Diabetes Educator Certificate (CDE) required
Minimum of one (1) year recent experience with complex diabetes care required
A minimum of five (5) years recent experience with Diabetes preferred
Insulin pump certification required
Current BCLS required
Experience teaching adults/groups in an ambulatory care or community setting preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills required
Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills required
Excellent critical thinking skills required.
Must be professional and self-directed
Interest in and knowledge of current diabetes management
Proven good attendance and work record required
Ability to be flexible with schedule in order to meet the needs of the clients is required
Expectation is that candidate will become a certified pump trainer within 2 years
