Job Description:

Reporting to the Director, Compensation the Senior Compensation Consultant enables the Total Rewards,

HR and enterprise strategies by providing senior analytical expertise for compensation initiatives and managing mid-sized projects and work streams. In this role you will consult with partners to develop, implement and support programs, processes and tools that align with effective employee, people manager and business partner experiences in relation to compensation

Please note this is a 14-month contract position

What will you do:

- Provide modeling and advanced analytics support on compensation design initiatives and enhancements to compensation programs to implement data-driven decisions and insights 

- Analyze the market competitiveness of Sun Life compensation programs and perform complex research, analysis and delivery of findings to HR Business Partners and/or leaders

- Contribute to senior management /HR Business Partner discussions regarding initiatives/changes in organization structures and provide corresponding job evaluation support

- Act as a project manager for medium to large compensation-related projects or work streams

- Review, develop, communicate and implement appropriate solutions (programs, processes, tools) in support of providing an effective employee and HR Business Partner compensation experience in relation to compensation

- Maintain a thorough understanding of internal and external compensation design, practices and policies and industry trends and practices

- Develop relationships with HR Business Partners to ensure appropriate solutions in support of business unit requirements and lead support for them during the annual performance and pay cycle

- Handle complex inquiries from HR colleagues

What do you need to succeed:

- University degree and at least 6 years of relevant experience

- Strong knowledge of compensation practices and theory

- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and spreadsheet analysis, with comfort manipulating large data-sets; Access and Tableau experience is an asset

- Exceptional analytical, problem solving and financial modeling skills, with an eye for detail and accuracy

- Bias for continuous improvement and leveraging technology to improve outcomes

- Excellent interpersonal, communication and consulting skills, incorporating different perspectives, backgrounds and styles

- Strong project management and planning skills

- Solid knowledge and understanding of HR programs and connections

- Ability to take initiative and capability to resolve complex situations

- Completion or progress toward CCP or CHRP designation preferred

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
