The Ministry of Health is responsible for maintaining an accessible, high quality, affordable system for health service delivery that meets the needs of the citizens of the Province of BC. Its mandate is to support and enhance a responsive, comprehensive, regionalized health care system that promotes and provides for the physical,
mental and community health of all British Columbians.
The Finance and Corporate Services Division supports the Ministry Executive and programs by managing and ensuring a consistent approach to financial and corporate issues. The services are provided through six branches: Financial Operations, Strategic Finance, Regional Grants and Decision Support, Audit and Investigations, Capital Services and Business Financial Transformation. These branches provide financial advice and assist programs to meet their strategic goals and operational plans, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and central agency directives
The Senior Director, Financial Operations provides strategic oversight in establishing and overseeing efficient accounting and financial system operations. The position is responsible for effective stewardship of Ministry resources to achieve compliance with legislation and policy; ensures the development and maintenance of a Ministry framework for setting, measuring, analyzing, and reporting on operational performance measures; and, influences Ministry decisions by working closely with internal and external stakeholders and directing and overseeing the production and conveyance of the strategic and analytical financial implications of initiatives and projects.

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
- Professional Accounting Designation (CPA).
- Minimum three (3) years experience in a senior leadership capacity in accounting, budgeting and financial management for a multi-million-dollar budget.
- Minimum three (3) years experience leading and resolving complex staff issues, including developing and evaluating performance goals; coaching, team-building and mentoring.
- Minimum five (5) years experience in planning, developing, and implementing financial policy, financial procedures, large programs, or complex projects.
Preference may be given to candidates with 1 or more of the following:
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration.
- Four (4) or more years experience in a senior leadership capacity in accounting, budgeting and financial management for a multi-million dollar budget.
- Experience managing multiple activities concurrently, in a high-pressure environment.
- Experience working in complex situations with priorities that are constantly evolving, and issues emerge and change rapidly under tight deadlines.
