About The Role



The Senior Financial Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis is a one-year contract role that will report directly to the Director, Finance. In this role, the individual will own the monthly management reporting process. They will be responsible for analyzing financial results and preparing the forecast in support of the Foundation’s planning and decision-making process. This is a highly visible role that involves working cross-functionally to gather information and deliver value-added financial analytics and recommendations. The successful candidate will quickly obtain an understanding of how the entire organization works.



Areas of Accountability



- Plays an integral role in supporting the annual planning process, working collaboratively with senior managers and program directors to formulate the annual budget

- Owns the monthly variance analysis and forecasting process across the organization

- Perform monthly variance analysis of budget versus actual results and articulating this in a report and slide deck that is presented to the senior leadership team monthly and Audit & Risk Committee quarterly

- Assists in developing and monitoring key performance indicators throughout the organization

- Supports the assessment of corporate development opportunities and other growth areas through advanced modelling and scenario analysis

- Maintain the two year rolling cash flow

- Assists with ongoing enterprise risk management

- Supports the month end close process

- Creates reports from the accounting system to fulfill the needs of internal stakeholders

- Performs ad-hoc financial analysis



Skills & Qualifications



Strong Financial Analysis



- Experience and knowledge of Not-for-Profit accounting standards

- Experience in developing insights and analysis out of financial reports

- Proven experience in financial planning (budgeting and forecasting) and delivering month end management reports

- Proven experience in financial modelling and formulating key performance indicators

- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring there are no discrepancies and errors in publications



Communications Skills



- Exceptional communication skills; ability to communicate confidently and effectively with all levels of management

- Ability to translate quantitative data into value-added analysis and recommendations

- Proven experience building decks and presenting analysis to management



Interpersonal Leadership



- Ability to collaborate well with others, but also effective and working independently; self-starter

- Ability to safeguard confidential information

- Extremely well organized in order to accomplish a multitude of conflicting priorities under tight deadlines



Technical Skills



- Expert Microsoft Excel skills is a must (pivot tables, lookup functions, manipulating large volumes of data)

- Experience using Oracle Netsuite (preferred)

- Experience using Raiser’s Edge



Qualifications



- Completion of a CPA designation

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business

- Accounting/finance experience in the NFP sector a plus

- 5+ years of progressive experience in a financial planning and analysis capacity
