Research Methods Specialist
General Adult Psychiatry and Health Systems Division
The General Adult Psychiatry and Health Systems Division at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is currently seeking a full-time, one (1) year contract Research Methods Specialist to join its team. Reporting into the Manager, Clinical Research the Research Methods Specialist will be responsible for supporting multiple projects by designing electronic case report forms (eCRF) using an Electronic Data Capture (EDC) system based on requirements of specific research protocols. Responsibilities will include but not limited to interacting and working with the project team during the design,
test and deployment phases of the project; completing the tasks assigned against the project timelines; developing eCRFs (building forms, fields, applying edit checks to the fields, building customized functions, testing and validation of eCRfs developed, assisting and working with the project team during the testing phase, integrated system testing, user acceptance testing support to the research team). The successful candidate will also build reports/ data extracts and basic analyses as required by Principal Investigators; move projects from test phase to production; provide support and troubleshoot issues with eCRFs. You will also be required to build access and permissions to studies; support collaborating sites that will access the study, as applicable; manage user accounts; work with the Information Group (IMG) to support the EDC environments and tools; work with third party vendors to support the EDC environments and tools, as applicable. Other administrative duties including database management are also required. The successful candidate must possess an Honour’s Baccalaureate Degree in health and/or computer sciences, bio-statistics or equivalent combined with five (5) years of relevant research experience. Experience working on clinical or non-clinical research studies in mental health and addictions is an asset. Experience using Electronic Data Capture-REDCAP, Medidata Rave tools is an asset while developing and building case report forms is a requirement. Teamwork and ability to work with minimal supervision are requirements necessary to be successful in this position. Working knowledge of programming/database development tools and environments is an asset. You will also have demonstrated ability to manage and analyze large databases and will have literature review and synthesis skills. Proficiency with word processing, PowerPoint and database software packages is required. Experience with a variety of statistical packages (SPSS, SAS, MATLAB, and R), ability to provide statistical analysis and data interpretation is an asset. The ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and diverse stakeholders is essential. Demonstrated communications skills (both oral and written) are required as is the ability to explain complex issues in plain language. The candidate will be detail oriented, well organized, with the ability to meet deadlines and to work independently with minimal supervision. Prior research or service experience with individuals and/or families with mental health and addiction issues are an advantage. Candidates require the ability to work effectively in a variety of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
Please Note: This full-time, contract position lasting one (1) year is part of the OPSEU bargaining unit.
Salary Range: $38.21 - $51.54 per hour
