Position Title: Assistant Manager, Corporate Policy Work Location: Director's Office (Education Centre - 60 Wellington Street W, Aurora, ON, L4G 3H2) Salary: $73,184 to $82,367 Work Schedule: 35 hours/week Application Deadline: May 31, 2021 Interested applicants are required to complete the following on-line application to the attention of: The Recruitment Team. In compliance with Board policies and procedures, oversees the strategic development and management of the Policy and Procedure Review Process and the consistent communication of Board policy under the strategic leadership of the Manager, Corporate Secretariat and Trustee Services Major Responsibilities:

To manage Corporate Policy functions and ensure staff and trustees have the information necessary in order to make informed policy and procedure decisions. To attend meetings and provide support to the Policy and By-Law Committee Chair. To oversee coordination of Policy and By-Law Committee Meetings. To proactively oversee content and timelines for reports and presentations related to policy and/or procedure for presentation to the Coordinating Council of Superintendents, Senior Team, Policy and By-Law Committee, etc. To develop and manage the ongoing strategic review of Board policies, procedures and supporting documents including working with trustees and staff members and supporting the stakeholder consultation process to ensure alignment with Board priorities and compliance with all relevant legislative Acts and Regulations. To research, develop, and propose revisions to the policy development and review process framework to ensure efficient functioning in accordance with relevant legislation and best practices. To establish and foster positive, value-added, collaborative working relationships with staff, trustees and community members to support system needs related to Corporate Policy. To monitor, evaluate, research and conduct internal and external assessments, environmental scans of other educational institutions, legislation and Ministry directives and review evidence and drivers of success to support the writing and development of existing and new Board policies and procedures. To ensure supporting documents and communications are aligned with Board policies and procedures to support system implementation and awareness. To develop, support and monitor the strategic communication of policy and procedure revisions to staff and the community. To provide strategic planning and project management methodologies to support senior staff members and subject matter experts with regard to the policy and procedure development and review process. To provide intentional and strategic support and guidance to senior staff in preparing and presenting information to the Board of Trustees. To work with trustees to ensure data and other evidence is used to support policy and procedure development and to support their role in monitoring the effectiveness of Board policies. To communicate directly with trustees, staff and the community with regard to Board policies, procedures and supporting documents and where appropriate incorporate feedback into appropriate documents. To ensure all Board policies are in compliance with the requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. To oversee the maintenance of policies, procedures and supporting documents on the Board’s internal and external websites. To develop and deliver education and training sessions and materials for trustees, staff and members of the public with regard to the Board’s policy and procedure review process. To implement collaborative and innovative ways for members of the community to provide input on Board policy and procedure. To manage policy and procedure records. To hire, supervise and conduct performance appraisal of staff who support Board policy and procedure review and development. To demonstrate ethical leadership and provide an equitable and inclusive working environment. To perform other duties as assigned. Education, Experience and Qualifications: A four-year university degree in political science, public administration or a related discipline is required. Minimum five years in public administration, municipal government or related experience is required. Political acuity, effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal, project management and computer skills are required. Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals and groups both within and outside the Board is required. Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and have access to own transportation.
