Overview / Responsibilities



Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is recruiting an Environmental Assessment Field Coordinator to join our team, as part of the English-Wabigoon river remediation project in collaboration with Grassy Narrows First Nation. 





Key Responsibilities: 



- Work collaboratively with Indigenous community members and Wood technical staff to support surface water and sediment sampling, as well as other community engagement, ecological and hydrometric tasks as needed.

- Organize and implement environmental data and field sample management including, but not limited to, the collection, recording and digital filing, transport and lab submission of samples, completion of chain of custody documents,

and associated Quality Control of data

- Correspond with Indigenous community members, Wood staff and/or regulatory agencies through written and verbal methods.

- Act as field-house manager, coordinating routine operation and lodging for project staff including Indigenous community members and other Wood staff.

- Complete progress update reports and support scientific reporting, with senior guidance, on a variety of topics pertaining to the natural environment.

- Act as the onsite Health and Safety Lead, ensuring health and safety protocols for self and project site staff are followed.

- Providing support to project leads including scheduling, staffing, equipment maintenance and regular communication to achieve efficient, scope compliant and cost-effective assignment delivery.



Skills / Qualifications



- Previous experience working directly and collaboratively with Indigenous Peoples is essential; previous experience working with clients, public stakeholders and regulatory agency liaison considered an asset.

- Diploma or Degree Biology, Ecology, or related discipline

- Minimum 5+ years of experience in consulting

- Experience coordinating environmental sampling logistics and field staff logistics/travel and accommodations.

- Highly organized ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

- Valid Canadian Driver’s License

- Ability to live in Dryden, Ontario full-time for the field program duration (est. 5 to 6 months)
