Application Reliability Engineer

Global Wealth and Asset Management Technology - Systems and Platform Services

The successful applicant will be involved with application support to empower our users with high availability, reliability, and stellar performance levels to pursue their missions.  The candidate will need to have a breadth and depth of experience that will allow her/him to devise and support solutions that integrate appropriately within the organization and its application frameworks.


- Work with business clients, internal, and external teams to debug or trouble shoot applications

- Work with internal teams to Investigate feed failures using CA Workload Automation

- Track and produce key metrics for the team and develop strategies to increase efficiency to assist in performance tuning and fault finding

- Remain current on standards, technologies, approaches, and methodologies

- Coordinate business user testing activities for break/fix code changes

- Run the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health

- Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, improving reliability, and innovating to continually improve

- Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large distributed software applications

- Manage and coordinate team workload and tasks using Jira and Service Now

- We have business partners, vendors, and other IT groups within our environment.  Building and maintaining positive relationships and ensuring superior customer service is a daily mission

- Keeping compliant with our various Audit and Operational Risk Management standards and Path to Green vulnerabilities


- Minimum 2 years working experience supporting systems at Level 2 (support)

- Experience with relational database structures and methodologies

- Experience with one or more of the following:  Scheduling (CA, CA WLA), SQL queries, and scripting

- Proven ability to multitask both independently and within a team

- Applicable undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience

- Client oriented, dedicated to customer service, takes initiative, creative thinker

- A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks

- Working experience with the change management, problem management, and incident management process

- Excellent communication skills: We communicate A LOT so being able to be clear and concise with both written and oral communications with a measure of tact is a must.  Converting tech-speak to plain language is a definite bonus

- Informatica (or related ETL tools)

- Perl script

- CA Workload Automation (or related scheduling software)

- Java
