Role



Are you looking to experience and gain valuable work experience in cybersecurity to better prepare yourself for the work force? A number of new opportunities exist for security analysts to join a team of highly skilled Information Technology (IT) security professionals within the Government of Alberta’s Cybersecurity Services team



We are looking for cyber-security professionals to fulfill security analyst roles at the entry level. Overall, Information Security Officers are tasked with the protection of the Government of Alberta’s (GoA) information assets from a confidentiality, integrity and availability perspective. They are responsible to identify, assess, monitor, detect, investigate, research, and respond to threats and incidents impacting the security of information assets.



The position supports the GoA’s Information Security Management Directives (ISMD) and contributes to the safe operation of the GoA computing environment. Incumbents may also be responsible for participating in the development and implementation of security controls, including cyber security technology, processes, policy instruments, or awareness materials.



This presents an excellent opportunity for those who enjoy planning and resolving challenges in large projects and possess strong communication, problem solving and project management skills. You will contribute to the continuity of the operation of the Government of Alberta’s computing environment by assisting in Cybersecurity Services’ activities like learning how to coordinating Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises, investigating cyber threats, assisting in penetration testing, reviewing impact analysis, monitoring and managing risk assessments and security incidents, performing digital forensic investigations, triaging incident responses and assisting in the development and implementation of security controls, including cyber security technology, processes, policy instruments, and awareness or training materials.



To be successful in this position, you must have some experience in the information security field and have a thirst for knowledge and enthusiasm to learn new and exciting skills. You will be working as part of a team and learning in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.



Qualifications



University graduation in computer science or a related discipline; or equivalent as described below.



Equivalency: A related two-year diploma in computer technology or a related discipline from a recognized postsecondary institution and two years related experience; or a related one-year certificate from a recognized postsecondary institution and three years related experience. Assets include ICS 100/ ICS 200/ ICS 300 and/or ITIL, PMP, ABCP, CBCP, CISSP, CCSP, CEH, CISM, PMI-PBA, CAPM certifications.



Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.

Salary



$2,161.37 - $3,241.54 bi-weekly ($56,411.76 - $84,604.19 annually)

Temporary Position of 2 Years.



Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary. This competition may be used to fill future vacancies.



Final candidates for this position will be asked to undergo a security screening.



Location: This position works out of the Terrace Building, located at 9515 – 107 Street.
