Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Manager, Property Management, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the JOURNEYPERSON MACHINIST/INDUSTRIAL MECHANIC (MILLWRIGHT) is responsible for: performing preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment; modifying new or existing equipment; and performing other related duties as assigned.


- Five (5) years related experience in trade at the Red Seal level.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

- Grade XII.

- Completion of College/CEGEP (Collège d'Enseignement Général et Professionnel)/vocational or technical training.


- Red Seal Certification as a Machinist or Industrial Mechanic (Millwright).

Qualifications and Skills

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings and diagrams.

- Mathematical skills.

- Manual dexterity.

- Mechanical aptitude.

- Good interpersonal skills.

- Good communication skills.

- Neat and tidy appearance.

Physical Requirements

- Physically able to move and carry loads up to 34 kg.

The Collective Agreement this position is covered under, is identified by the Union noted above.  As a result of The Health Sector Bargaining Unit Review Act, the bargaining agent for this position may differ from the Union identified.  In the event you have any questions, please contact your site Human Resources Department.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
