Position:  Pharmacy Coordinator

Site:   Toronto General Hospital

Department: Pharmacy 

Reports to:  Clinical Site Manager

Hours:   18.75 hours per week

Status:  Temporary Part-time (6 months) 

University Health Network (UHN) is looking for an experienced professional to fill the key role of Education Coordinator in our Pharmacy Department.

The UHN Department of Pharmacy is committed to providing optimal patient care by supporting a structure which integrates professional knowledge, ethics, skills and experience in the delivery of patient-focused care. Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians play an integral role in patient care within the interprofessional health care teams. UHN is a major teaching site for undergraduate pharmacy students, residents and PharmD students as well as pharmacy technician students. The department is committed to the initiation of pharmacy-based research and scholarly activity.

We are looking for a motivated, team-oriented individual with strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, organizational and change management skills. The individual should enjoy interacting with students, residents and pharmacy practitioners (pharmacists and technicians). The position requires an individual who is self-motivated and can work independently and in a team environment. Strong candidates will possess experience with human resource recruitment and hiring processes (resident, student and intern selection) as well as innovations in patient care, teaching, and scholarly activity (including educational scholarship) and research. 


- Minimum Degree: Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required

- Certificate of competency from the Pharmacy Examination Board of Canada preferred

- Ontario pharmacist practice license, Part A (or have the qualifications to obtain a practice license with the Ontario College of Pharmacists)-preferred

- At least three years of hospital pharmacy experience required

- Experienced educational preceptorship at the residency and/or PharmD level required

- CSHP membership in good standing is a mandatory requirement (linked to national CPRB accreditation requirements).

- Pharmacy practice research experience required

- Hospital pharmacy residency certificate preferred

- Advanced clinical/ practice, advanced education and/or advanced research degrees preferred

- Previous research coordinator (pharmacist and/or pharmacy technician related research), residency leadership experience, education coordinator skills preferred

- Faculty of Pharmacy university appointment is an asset

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills

- Excellent computer skills
