What can you expect in this role?

Leading, coaching and supporting the Claims Operational Reporting Team are key functions for the Manager, Claims Operational Reporting role.  Key areas of focus include defining reporting needs, developing success measuring reporting strategies, and enabling automated reporting with effective data visualizations.  This team plays a critical role enabling the Claims Operational Analysis team to focus on key trends and emerging challenges.  Collaboration and communication skills are essential given the business partnership requirement of this role and the need to interact with other key business functions and partners.

- Collaborate with Claims stakeholders to assess and develop business requirements for key strategic reports.  Establish credibility and maintain strong relationships with key business partners.

- Lead all Claims reporting including ongoing dashboards, monthly business reviews, ad-hoc requests, and self-serve capabilities.  Partner with the Claims Data Management team to ensure data architecture enables success measurement and drives data integrity and accuracy

- Develop an analytics intake process to prioritize and execute against business needs while creating scalable artifacts that drive Analytics team efficiencies

- Supervise and manage the workload of the Claims Reporting Team (four analysts) including developing, mentoring, and coaching team members

- Develop key reporting and metric process and governance documentation including integrated data dictionaries with our Enterprise Data Office team

- Use large volumes of data to perform and deliver analyses that clearly address stakeholder needs while communicating results and insights to business partners and senior leadership team

- Leverage predictive modelling to develop, maintain, and enhance claims and indemnity forecasting

What do you bring to the role?

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field

- 5 - 10 years progressive work experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial analytical role

- Previous management and people leadership experience, ideally within the insurance industry

- Deep analytical and storytelling abilities with strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills

- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills

- Advanced experience with data visualization tools (e.g. IBM Cognos, Tableau)

- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate

- Excellent time management, prioritization and workload balancing skills

- Experience with agile methodology for analytics; experience with JIRA & Confluence for project management and the ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities
