We are currently seeking a

Business Desk Analyst

to join our Calgary team.

This is a 13 month term position with the possibility of extension.

As a valuable member of the department, the Business Desk Analyst will respond to requests for information (often multiple requests at the same time) while determining priorities. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast paced environment, be skilled at creating win-win solutions and able to meet tight reporting deadlines.

To ensure smooth operations, the Business Desk Analyst must be able to employ tactics to recognize situations that require immediate de-escalation. As this role is Client Facing, excellent communication skills and professional demeanor are essential.


roles and responsibilities

of the Business Desk Analyst include the following:

- Assisting Business Associates (BA) contacts with:

o Step by step guidance for specific production accounting tasks related to the application.

o Providing initial diagnosis and assists in resolving incidents by using the known error database.

o Correctly diagnosing and resolving pre-defined incident types.

o Responding to emails in a timely manner.

o Provide clients with contact numbers when required.

- Assisting clients with:

o Providing initial diagnosis and incident resolution.

o Correctly diagnosing and resolving pre-defined incident types.

- Guiding clients through the process of applying for a BA code.

- Providing clients with contact information for government ministries and industry.

- Assisting clients to navigate through various government web-pages.

- Assisting in testing of the monthly releases:

o Create test cases.

o Run and record results of test cases.

- Incident Management

o Uses incident management tool to document client interactions.

o Assign issues to 2nd level Subject Matter Experts.

o Use incident management tools to keep management abreast of trends or any issues that arise.

- Keeps clients updated of status of issues.


The ideal candidate will possess oil and gas production accounting knowledge in Canada.

1-3 years in professional role as individual contributor in the following areas:

- Must be a self-starter, organized, detail oriented and have ability to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously.

- Ability to understand and comply with all departmental rules and regulations, policies and procedures.

- Practical knowledge of the inter-relationships and inter-dependencies that exist in the Industry as it relates to production accounting and reporting.

- Understanding of the system development and implementation process, gained through participation in acceptance testing teams.

- Stress management skills to handle multi-tasking activities and tight deadlines.

- Ability to conceptualize problems, analyze and develop alternative solutions and integrate conceptual and practical experiences in the problem solving pro-cess.

- Must have strong troubleshooting skills.

- Ability to build and maintain good working relationship with clients.

- Ability to accept responsibility and accountability.

- Ability to pursue continuous improvement.

- Ability to facilitate meetings.

- Communication – communicate clearly and to the point.

Desired Skills:

- Working knowledge of desktop tools such as Word and Excel.

- Knowledge of Industry business and operating practices would be beneficial.

- Canadian Association of Petroleum Production Accounting (CAPPA) registration or certification would be beneficial.

- Practical experience with Oil & Gas Production Accounting.

- Completion of the Petrinex Training Modules.

- Detailed knowledge of the royalty, regulatory and industry commercial oil and gas regimes in Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Manitoba and Indian Oil and Gas Canada.

- Service desk or call-centre experience ( > 1 year).

- This is a 13 month term position with the possibility of extension.
