An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Structural CAD technician based in our Vancouver office. This position will be temporary for 2-3 months.

As a Structural CADD technician working as an integral part of the infrastructure group, your duties will include but not be limited to:

Develop drawings from sketches and concepts required by the engineering team (determine appropriate scale, arrangement and specific details of the drawings);

Work with other designers, project engineers and project managers in the execution and delivery of project requirements;

Provide 2D structural detailing of structural elements, including reinforcement, grading and steel structures detailing, 3D desirable but not essential;

Compile design drawings;

Follow layout requirements and develop alternate design layouts of systems as required;

Ensure that project needs are met in a timely and effective manner;

Provide support to other disciplines and offices, as required and

Perform any other related duties that may contribute to the projects, such as quantity calculation and preparation of contract specification.

Candidate Specification

The ideal candidate will have experience working within our primary markets along with having the following:

Minimum of 8 years of experience with an interest in delivering projects through the use of BIM technology

Graduate from a recognized post-secondary institution in Civil/Structural Technology

Basic knowledge of the structural design calculations and analysis

Experience in Civil/Structural CADD drafting

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and Civil 3D is required

Experience in MicroStation is an asset

Experience in coordination with other technicians and related disciplines to produce design deliverables

Experience in preparing design submissions and other technical documents

Previous experience with the BC MOT standard drawings and Contract Preparation System desirable;

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills in complex and changing environments and

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain good working relationships with external stakeholders and project teams
