The Health Care Aide functions as members of a multidisciplinary care teams providing healthcare services for residents at the Consort Hospital and Care Center. Duties include: assisting clients with activities of daily living, personal care, and health care procedures as delegated by a health care professional. Consort is a vibrant, rural community, with friendly people and a lower cost of living than major centres. Located approximately 300km east of Edmonton and Calgary, this village of approximately 720 residents is located in east-central Alberta, just 60km away from the Saskatchewan border. It is primarily a farming and ranching community, with a very active oil and gas industry as well.
It's a great place to raise a family, with amenities available that include a local Kindergarten to Grade 12 School, Adult Learning Centre, and Public Library, with a variety of arts and cultural clubs and activities. As a Health Care Aide (HCA) - Nursing Attendant, you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

For more information on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory, please visit: www.albertahcadirectory.com. - In addition, you must meet one of the following Alberta Health Services (AHS) Health Care Aide (HCA) competency requirement and provide evidence at time of hire: a) Certified - certified as a Health Care Aide through a Government of Alberta licensed post-secondary institution using the Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum; or b) Substantially Equivalent - an educational background deemed equivalent as compared to the approved Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum; or c) Deemed Competent - assessed as competent by an Alberta regulated nurse, using the Provincial Competency Assessment Profile Tool.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team to provide personal care and support for clients. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job. Good communication and observational skills is required. Reliable and responsible, to provide quality, and consistent care to clients. Good routine practices regarding infection control and personal care. Knowledgeable to report changes in client care needs to Registered Nurse.
Familiarity with using a PC, Internet, and Microsoft Office applications is an asset.
