The Edmonton Humane Society has been an animal welfare leader in the Edmonton community since 1907. We are more than a shelter and a safe haven for thousands of animals in our care each year, We play a key role in the Edmonton region by enriching the lives of people and their companion animals not only through our sheltering, but thorugh our programs, ssrevices and community engagement.
Reporting to Supervisor, Facilities and Maintenance, the facilities assistant serves the Facilities and Maintenance department in order to maintain a high level of service to the community.
The facilities assistant helps oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of EHS and strives to provide high quality maintenance and service work to the Edmonton Humane Society.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
This position is responsible for a variety of functions as follows:
Assisting in handling basic repairs and maintenance
Assist in pick up, receive, and restock all areas with the required supplies
Assist the facilities crew with daily tasks
Assist facilities crew in conducting routine inspections of premises and equipment’s
Follow safe working practices and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as required.
Assist in monitoring inventory and order supplies
Operating a variety of standard power tools and equipment (lawn mower, electric hedge clipper, edger, tiller etc.)
Adjust, clean, and perform minor mechanical work on grounds equipment
Assist in maintain maintenance records, receipts and ensuring proper follow-up of all maintenance contracts as directed by Director, Administration
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience in building, maintenance, operations would be considered an asset
Experience with power and hand tools is required

As the ideal candidate, you are a trusted, ability to multi-task with positive attitude, enthusiasm and energy. Independent, resourceful and proactive you are a compassionate problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced enviornment.
Hours: 40 hours a week; however, is expected to work hours as required to fulfill department responsibilities. Some evenings and weekends may be required.
Employment Length: 3 months
