The opportunity

In this role,

you will get an opportunity to provide support and help facilitate the design, development, implementation and maintenance of Symcor’s corporate applications.

This role will also help with creation of knowledge base articles and application deployment guidelines as part of a continuous improvement and commitment to the growth of our team.

What you will do

Lead sessions with the team to design new system components.

Identify efficient solutions to complex requirements.

Liaise with subject matter experts, development team, implementation support and production support staff to define technical specifications.

Convert architectures and designs specifications into application configurations.

Collaborate with peers, vendors and users to diagnose challenges and issues with applications or services.

Contribute fresh, new ideas during meetings and other brainstorming sessions.

Implement, maintain, test, and support various software and SaaS applications.

Adopt the best methodology for delivery of the initiative, identifying areas of improvement and driving the SLDC forward.

Establish your position as a subject matter expert in your area of expertise.

Collaborate and interact with interdisciplinary teams to identify and resolve issues, review and complete projects.

Participate actively within the team to accept assignments and deliver on commitments.

Assist in estimating resource needs and timelines to complete short and long-term projects as well as daily operational tasks. Assist in clarifying stakeholder requirements; communicate questions and address concerns.

Provide relevant and detailed updates and feedback in a timely manner.

Lead the development and maintenance of system test plans.

Liaise with subject matter experts, development team, implementation support and production support staff to define technical specifications.

Maintain technical documentation including process workflow and error recovery procedure

Provide accurate and timely estimates for work efforts, both for a single change request and full project initiative.

Provide build and configuration documentation as required for application installation and upgrades

What you need to succeed

4 year degree (preferably in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Mathematics, or similar)

3-5 years of database, system and application administration experience

Expertise working with operating systems (Microsoft, Unix, Linux)

Expertise with administering SharePoint Online, Jira & Confluence, ServiceNow

Expertise with common database technologies (DB/2, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)

Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS and JavaScript frameworks

Experience with scripting and automation tools

Strong knowledge of software development life cycle

Certifications in Technology and related fields

A problem solver with a keen eye for detail

Able to own work items assigned and drive those items to completion

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Able to engage yourself in a project and enjoy the challenges and processes involved

Flexible, eager, ambitious, and adaptable to change

Familiarity with common project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall)

A passion for technology

Experience in the financial services industry is an asset

Experience managing software vendors is an asset
