Communications and Project Coordinator (Aquatic Habitat Canada)
In collaboration with the Aquatic Habitat Canada (AHC) Program Manager, coordinate engagement with the AHC Steering Committee and working group members, including arranging meeting logistics and preparing and distributing meeting minutes.
Assist in organizing and running webinar/video conferencing events for AHC outreach to our target audiences for specific AHC projects.
Research and prepare content to update the Resources,
News, Events, sections of the AHC website with information related to aquatic habitat conservation and restoration in Canada.
Maintain membership profiles and contact information on the AHC website on a regular basis.
Manage AHC social media accounts (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter)
Research and develop content for postings
Grow each platform’s following and engagement rate
Repost relevant social media content from member groups’ social media channels
Assist the AHC Program Manager in researching and writing briefs on specific issues that support AHC objectives and specific project outcomes.
Carry out basic information technology tasks including troubleshooting meeting and webinar technology (e.g. Zoom and Teams).
Maintain AHC’s electronic files.
Attend weekly program team meetings and project planning meetings as required.
Maintain work time records for payroll purposes and expenses for project and out-of-pocket expenses.
Post-secondary degree and 2-3 years of work experience in a position requiring skills related to the listed responsibilities.
Strong written and oral communication.
Knowledge of environmental science, environmental studies, or aquatic ecology/biology is considered an important asset.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Teams, and experience managing social media platforms.
Ability to manage and schedule multiple tasks, prioritize tasks and work remotely.
Ability to translate technical knowledge about aquatic habitat policies and conservation practices and concepts for non-technical, public understanding.
Some knowledge of WordPress website back-end and website management.
A demonstrated interest in environmental issues, wildlife, or fisheries is considered an asset.
This position reports to the AHC Program Manager
Contract position ending May 2021
This position is based out of Ottawa, ON. We offer temporary remote work from home amid Covid-19.
Salary is based on experience and qualifications
