The Position:

Redeemer is looking for a full-time Accounting Professor to join it’s faculty in the Department of Social Sciences. Business is one of the largest academic programs at Redeemer and has been blessed with large incoming classes in recent years. Our graduates have the benefits of a liberal arts and sciences core, a broad foundation in business, and then specialize in Accounting, Marketing, Management, or Not-for-Profit Management. Our Co-op Program is accredited by both CPA Ontario and CEWIL Canada. Most students in the Accounting Stream elect to do two eight-month co-op terms.

Students who graduate from Redeemer’s Accounting Program have a superb track record for success in the CPA program and its predecessor designations. We also typically have more demand for accounting graduates than we can fill. The successful applicant will share responsibility for maintaining those high standards and ensuring that Redeemer’s accounting program keeps pace with changes in accounting standards and technology.

Responsibilities:

This position carries a teaching load of 6 to 7 courses per year (65% of the position’s responsibilities), with a focus on Accounting (Financial and Managerial), Taxation and/or Auditing. Expertise in Information Systems and Data Analytics or Operations Management is an asset. In addition, 25% of the position is dedicated to academic research, professional writing (e.g., writing Ivey cases) and/or professional consulting; and 10% of time is devoted to service to the Business Program, University, and wider community. Due to two projected retirements within the department over the next five years, we are looking for someone with leadership qualities and administrative gifts who welcomes a challenge.

Preferred Skill, Education and Experience:

This would be an ideal career transition for a professional accountant with experience in public practice and/or industry who is passionate about training the next generation of accountants and business people. Applicants should possess a CPA designation and significant experience. Preference would be extended to applicants who also possess an MAcc or MBA or who would like to pursue a DBA or PhD, and those with teaching experience.
