The role is to fill under Laurentian Bank a subsidiary of the Laurentian Bank Financial Group.
With offices in Montreal and Toronto, the Loan Syndication group works on highly structured credits across a broad range of industries throughout Canada. Each year, Laurentian Bank participates in many broadly syndicated transactions ranging from $50 million to $1 billion.
º Underwrite complex loan applications, mainly focused on syndicated loans originateded by the sales team.
º Understand clients' business, conduct detailed financial analysis based on financial statements and compare them with industry standards and competitors.
º Perform credit analysis and sensitivity analysis to assess the depth of financial performance under different economic situations.
º Review new loan applications and define their acceptability as investments for the Bank.
º Work with the Sales team to negotiate loan terms and conditions in accordance with the Bank's policies and guidelines. Collect relevant information for preparation of loan application for submission to credit. Once the transaction is approved, ensure that all financing terms are met and all legal and regulatory aspects of transaction are complied by.
º Focus on risk management, including full credit reviews, annual reviews and amendments to financing terms.
º Maintain and optimize communication with internal and external stakeholders involved in the department's operations.
º University degree in a related field, preferably in finance, accounting or business administration, and five years of experience in a similar position.
º MBA, CFA, CPA, an asset
º Ability to draft clear and logical loan applications
º Skilled at conducting market analyses and other verifications (due diligence) required for loan approval
º Working knowledge of financial assessment and financial statement analysis techniques
º Solid communication skills required to track and negotiate complex transactions
º Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
º Strong coaching skills
º Excellent knowledge of assessment techniques
º Attention to detail in the diligence process
º Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel)
º Fluent in English and French, written and spoken
