David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit a Senior Business Analyst based in Alberta. This is a remote position - once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, the position can be in Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta.





What You'll Be Involved In…

The Integrated Learning Environment (ILE) is responsible for the successful delivery and completion of a large transformation program that re-imagines the learner experience.



The program includes full redesign and implementation of processes across the learner experience, underpinned by a new technology platform. Based on D2L and Ellucian products,

the Integrated Learning Environment platform is centralized around the replacement of the existing Information System (SIS) and Learning Management System (LMS), and the introduction of a single comprehensive Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solution.





A Data Architect is needed to design, architect, develop, our client's next-generation data management and analytics platform to help develop the data strategy as part of the Digital Transformation initiative.





This role reports to the Director, Digital Transformation. and will be a key participant in developing enterprise architecture practice that drives technology modernization and optimization strategies.



Where Do You Come In?



- This position will have responsibility for developing strategies and roadmaps and making decisions and recommendations in enterprise data architecture clearly aligned with the overall enterprise architecture strategies



- Develop a Data strategy that will address existing and emergent business needs



- Act as the subject matter expert around complex data structures and the ability to enhance the data to be integrated across the enterprise



- Design and implement database solutions in AWS Cloud



- Develop a data model and Data Lake design around stated use cases



- Using a deep understanding of data flows, propose and implement innovative data solutions



- Define data modeling and design standards, tools, best practices, and related development methodologies



- Make recommendations for standardization and proper data usage



- Create optimal physical data models of datasets, then create and maintain data maps and systems interrelationship diagrams for data domains and systems



- Assist in system integration by modeling data from legacy systems prior to migration



- Prepare documentation and data architectural designs



- Understand Enterprise Data Models, large datasets, business/technical data requirements, BI tools, data warehousing, statistical programming languages, and libraries



- Identify and communicate technical risks as they emerge over the course of the program



- Other duties as assigned



About You…



- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field



- 3-5 years' experience in data architecture, data warehousing, and data lake platforms Technical expertise regarding data models, database design, data mining, and segmentation techniques



- Experience in a large-scale, multi-platform, multi-tier processing environment



- Expertise with data lakes, data warehouses, and advanced analytics platforms



- Current knowledge of AWS, Azure, and/or GCP



- Knowledge of web security and technologies for authentication, encryption, authorization; privacy and data security and legislation



- Ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges in an enterprise environment



- Expert knowledge of metadata management and related tools



- Experience working with dimensionally modeled data



- Knowledge of mathematical foundations and statistical analysis



- Knowledge of data mining and segmentation techniques



- Strong facilitation and team leadership skills



- Strong consulting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
