This position is responsible for supervising the Supply Chain Specialist team and all customer facing activities for the Canadian Procurement operation. In addition, this position will act as backup to Facilities Team management for the Mississauga location.


- Acts as Supply Chain subject matter expert when collaborating with Customers/Sales/Vendors and VWR cross-functional teams to resolve issues and strategize for the Canadian Business to improve operational performance.

- Optimize inventory asset investment to support high customer service levels and inventory reduction initiatives in accordance with performance goals.

- Determine and recommend planning methods that will best support customer’s special requirements (TX numbers, pre-reservation, consignment, stock requests).

- Analyze key trends in customer order history in the context of the Customers Supply Chain processes to proactively identify and propose key process improvements to the Supplier and VWR functional teams.

- Assists with customer site visits, customer audits and presentations.

- Oversees KPI program for service levels, excess inventory, pre-reservation and consignments. Additionally, responsible for reporting on their assigned customers.

- Active mentoring, leading, training, development, and performance management of direct reports. Directs workflow to team as required.

- Implements and oversees projects, sets deadlines and monitors results. Holds self and team accountable for timely execution of operational goals and objectives.

- Approve team timecards and vacation, and submit payroll bi-weekly.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)

- 5 plus years of experience with inventory/forecast planning or in distribution environment

- Previous leadership experience/responsibility

- University degree in related fields or equivalent experience

- APICS or SCMA certificate an asset

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)

- Analytical and mathematical aptitude

- A strategic and proactive thinker

- Experience with multiple SKUs

- Ability to understand forecast and planning models

- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Access & Excel

- Possess excellent leadership qualities

- Good organizational and time management skills

- Ability to prepare and deliver presentations to senior leaders

- Experienced multi-tasker that can work under tight deadlines

- Strong procurement knowledge

- SAP experience an asset


Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.

Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.

A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.

Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
