Stubbe’s Precast has made a strong commitment to its future technology by investing in state-of-the-art production facilities and leveraging the power of 3D Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) tools.



Reporting to the Manager of Detailing, the VDC Modeller is assigned projects as orders are received and is responsible for the creation of our shop drawings. This includes, modelling the project using advanced Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) software, creating drawings and details, issuing drawing sets for approval, coordinating requests for information, and correcting the model and drawings to be production ready. The VDC Modeller will create all production drawings including machine files for our new state-of-the-art production facilities. A VDC Modeller may also perform additional duties, such as preliminary design using load tables or managing larger and more complex projects, according to skills and abilities as experience is gained.



KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES



•Use of software such as Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, customized ERP software, and MS Office,



•Responsible for thoroughly reviewing supplied drawing sets from Architect, Structural Engineer, and Mechanical Engineer,



•Coordinate all drawing sets to create a precast shop drawing set using Stubbe's Precast design and modelling standards,



•Coordinate projects between General Contractor and internal departments to obtain missing information and resolve discovered conflicts,



•Maintain proper documentation on every project,



•Responsible for creation of machine files and detailing of all production sheets related to the project,



•Ensure multiple projects are completed on time while navigating conflicting deadlines,



•Perform preliminary design work using load tables and software according to experience and abilities,



•Additional duties as required by Manager according to experience and abilities.



QUALIFICATIONS



•Diploma in a technical field such as Architectural Technology or Engineering Technology or a combination of technical education and experience,



•Proficiency with modelling, detailing, and design software such as AutoCAD,



•Familiar with Virtual Design and Construction (3D BIM) software such as Tekla Structures, Bentley, Allplan, or Revit is considered an asset,



•Working knowledge of concrete and/or the construction field is considered an asset,



•Thorough knowledge reading and understanding architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings,



•Ability to work individually or on a team with senior VDC Modellers to achieve results,



•Excellent work ethic, positive attitude, desire to learn, and drive to excel in your field,



•Excellent attention to detail,



•Strong customer service skills,



•Strong analytical, trouble shooting, and problem solving skills,



•Strong organizational skills to multitask, manage deadlines, and work on multiple projects simultaneously,



•Competent and professional demeanor,



•Proficient in written and spoken English, and



•Proficiency in written and spoken French is an asset.

Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) is the management of integrated multi-disciplinary performance models of design-construction projects, including the product (i.e., facilities), work processes and organization of the design - construction - operation team in order to support explicit and public business objectives.
