NBCC is currently seeking a dynamic and competent Individual for the position of Applied Research Development Officer. This is a Term position until March 31, 2023 (with potential opportunity for extension). faculty and research staff to develop opportunities for applied research and innovation that enrich the learning experience for students and contribute to the success of partner companies. Key areas of responsibility include: pursuing research funding opportunities for the College; planning and coordinating research projects; promoting awareness of applied research; and building relationships with industry and community partners, applied research networks and funding bodies. The successful candidate will monitor academic, industry and government information and programs; develop proposals for research funding; assist NBCC faculty to develop sustainable relationships with potential research partners; provide project management oversight and guidance to faculty and department heads; and, monitor progress of research projects and provide reports to the college and funding agencies as required.QualificationsRequired qualifications for this opportunity include a diploma or university degree with experience in research administration, or a related area, including a demonstrated understanding of one (or more) of the following academic research environments: information and communications technology, health, social innovation, agri-food and or engineering technologies. The successful candidate will possess excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners/clients, as well as strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills. A valid driver's license and ability to travel is required as this position involves travel within the province.Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.Grant writing experience and knowledge of funding programs and project management will be considered assets. Written and spoken competence in English is required.Preference may be given to candidates who have experience working in a post-secondary environment.Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent.
