The Senior Automation Architect /Tools Lead role is part of the Business Enablement – Test Management QA/QE Team. The Test Automation Architect /Tools Lead is responsible for ensuring applications are thoroughly tested in the most cost effective and efficient manner, with the highest quality possible to ensure a quality product for our customers.

Our mandate is to foster process excellence and continuous improvement for the enterprise. This role is an exciting opportunity to set the vision and strategy for test automation across North American Personal and Business Banking (P&BB;) Technology group.



As an Automation Architect/Tools Lead, you will collaborate with highly skilled cross - technology teams in a fast moving environment. You will:



- Establish the short term and long-term strategy for Test Automation across N.A. P&BB;

- Oversee the definition, selection, and extension of the test automation architecture frameworks

- Provide leadership, guidance, training and mentoring

- Solid understanding of modern testing theory including: test pyramid (distribution of manual and automated testing), test driven design (TDD), behavior driven design (BDD)

- Define and implement test automation strategy including roadmap, tools, framework and approach across project teams.

- Help prioritize what should and shouldn’t be automated

- Lead Automation Best Practice Forums with Automation Practitioners within P&BB; organization.

- Research and recommend tools, approaches

- Review automation progress by team

- Acts as change agent, facilitating and driving the process change to practitioners 

- Demonstrate Thought Leadership, and have the ability to influence the status quo

- Ability to work independently, and also partner with various teams (QA, Performance, Dev, Architects, UAT, etc.)



Key Accountabilities:

Responsible for:

- Developing and continuously improving automation practices based on industry trends and internal teams experience and sharing those best practices with the P&BB; Automation practitioners.

- Assist in the integration of Agile practices and DevOps automation into SDLC policy and governance.

- Facilitating the adoption, implementation and sustainability of processes, principles, and practices within approved BMO methodology standards

- Help cultivate communities of practice through Monthly meetings

- Ensure methodology adherence and consistency while maintaining teams' abilities to be self-directed

Skills/Experience to be successful



- Previous hands on experience as Test Automation Architect

- Experience building QA Test Automation Frameworks

- Understanding of web, mobile, API and database testing technologies

- Knowledge of current automated testing industry best practices and trends

- Experience with test automation and test management tools

- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment

- Expert Level scripting proficiency in at least of the following languages C#, Java, Ruby, or Python

- Proven ability to work as a mentor on a team of QA engineer.

- Expert knowledge of Scrum and Agile principles

- Excellent written and verbal communications
