The SDK Technical Director is responsible for building and supervising a group of development teams building the products and technologies for the SDK solution,
including native and web integration libraries, engine plugins, live video edition solutions, and local development environments on multiple platforms. The SDK Technical Director will also be in charge of establishing software best practices and ensuring that this software meet the required level of features, quality and lead time. The SDK Technical Director will be leading and promoting good development practices that encourage quick iterations, long term maintenance, a problem-solving attitude and cooperation among teams, including from other departments. Working closely with the other directors, product owners and the CTO, the SDK Technical Director will ensure the teams have everything in their hands to achieve the optimal standards of quality in a rapidly moving industry, make the right technical choices and will ensure to overcome any obstacles, internal or external, that block them to reach their goals. Responsibilities include: - Supervising and encouraging excellence in architectural and technical decisions to ensure short-term and long-term requirements of the technology - Leading and coaching the organization, especially the SDK teams, in adoption of an Agile methodology and adapting continuous delivery principles to their needs - Defining and facilitating with the SDK teams the different activities and processes to achieve their goals; ensuring that the processes and expectations are well understood, and that coding, testing and documentation standards are executed in line with relevant defined standards - Fostering continuous improvement and coaching the teams to a higher level of self-organizing maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization - Measuring performance indicators and overseeing goal-setting and initiatives to improve them - Bringing clarity to a complex network of people, process, and products; addressing and navigating conflict, with poise and fairness and appropriately escalating issues when necessary - Working closely with HR to draft and maintain departmental staffing forecasts; ensuring internal performance (via coaching, training, conflict resolution, mediation) and augmenting with additional resources as needed (via hiring activities) for related development teams and correct action as necessary to solve performance-related issues - Establishing staff performance expectations and providing regular feedback both informal and scheduled reviews - Participating and communicating to technology watch pertinent to the industry and the domain of the core technology Experience and Education: - Bachelor's degree required relevant computer science and or technical or analytic field preferred - English language skills must be strong but should also be able to communicate in French - 7+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or related in a software product development environment - 7+ years of software development experience in a middleware and/or cloud services company in the game industry - 7+ years as a project manager managing risks inherent in leading complex projects - 3+ years of experience with middleware products development in the game industry - 7+ years of experience managing multiple development teams - Experience with managing technology development in collaboration with other development groups - Proven experience with cloud-oriented services technologies development - Experience with game engine integration - Experience with browser technologies integration - Experience in establishing TDD and modern delivery practices to a group of developers - Great capacity to communicate complex problems either technical or managerial - Strong work ethic with a positive attitude and good capacity of adaptation - Strong capacity to learn from different domains and applying those insights to new problems - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong curiosity to understand the whys Assets: - Knowledge and experience in establishing DevOps principles in a company - Great bilingual communication skills - Good knowledge of cloud networking and security - Demonstrated success autonomously managing complex projects that require input from many stakeholders - Strong business acumen - Start-up experience Please send your resume in Word format to Keri Trimble at the following address: [email protected] CNESST permit number: AP-2000414
