Canada Lands Company Limited (CLCL) is a federal commercial Crown corporation. Through its wholly owned subsidiaries, Canada Lands Company CLC Limited, Parc Downsview Park Inc. and the Old Port of Montreal Corporation Inc., CLCL manages,
redevelops and sells federal lands on behalf of the Government of Canada to ensure that optimal financial and community value is realized from these assets. It also manages the CN Tower in Toronto and the Science Center in Montreal. Through community consultation and partnering with the private sector, CLCL and its employees apply real estate expertise and creative property solutions to deliver lasting value for Canadians.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President and Chief Executive Officer is primarily responsible for: (a) leading the development of strategic business plans including multi-year budget projections for the corporation and its subsidiaries; (b) ensuring that the appropriate organizational structures, systems, staff resources, compensation programs and infrastructure are made available to achieve corporate plan objectives and mandate, and to protect the assets of CLCL; (c) maintaining a productive relationship with the Chairperson of the Board of Directors; (d) maintaining a collaborative relationship with representatives of CLCL’s clients and the hospitality/tourism industry as a whole; and (e) monitoring performance goals against objectives to ensure that the operations, commercial dealings and governance of CLCL fulfill the mandate, vision and business strategies approved by the Board of Directors.

Education and Experience
- A degree from a recognized university in a relevant field of study or an acceptable combination of education, job-related training and/or experience;
- Significant management experience at the senior executive level, including managing human and financial resources and working with a board of directors;
- Experience in managing complex real property portfolios, including the negotiation of sophisticated transactions;
- Experience in strategic management, organizational change and implementing modern corporate governance principles and best practices;
- Experience in managing diverse and complex stakeholder relations, including First Nations;
- Experience in managing labour relations, including understanding collective agreements, stakeholder engagement, negotiations and arbitration and union structures;
- Experience working with various levels of government; and
- Experience in the hospitality/tourism industry would be considered assets.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the mandate of CLCL, its business activities and public policy issues, as well as its governing legislation including the Canada Business Corporations Act and the Financial Administration Act;
- Knowledge of the federal government’s policies and priorities and how they relate to CLCL;
- Knowledge of commercial practices related to the disposal of diverse real property assets at the highest value;
- Knowledge of corporate governance principles and best practices;
- Knowledge of the functioning of all levels of government, particularly the municipal level, and the private sector in the real property field;
- Knowledge of public-private partnerships (PPP) and alternative project delivery methods, such as design-build and joint ventures;
- Knowledge of contemporary First Nations land-related issues with respect to the Crown’s responsibilities is desired;
- Ability to manage, provide corporate vision, leadership and the strategic direction needed for CLCL to fulfill its mandate and attain its objectives effectively and efficiently;
- Ability to develop effective relationships with a board of directors, federal, provincial and municipal governments and CLCL’s partners;
- Ability to implement decisions made by the Board of Directors and report back to the Board on progress, as well as the ability to facilitate consensus and to manage conflicts, should they arise; and
- Superior communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to act as a spokesperson in dealing with stakeholders, media, public institutions, governments and other organizations.
Proficiency in both official languages would be preferred.
