About MakeOS

The MakeOS Mission

The world’s best productions, the ones people talk about, share, and remember, are powered by incredible producers. And almost no software. Behind the scenes, it’s still spreadsheets, emails, and duct-taped workflows holding together projects worth millions.

We’re building MakeOS to change that.

MakeOS is the operating system for modern production. A single system that brings together budgets, vendors, approvals, and payments in real time, creating a true source of truth for how production actually runs. When you remove the chaos, producers get their time and headspace back to focus on the craft, the decisions, and the moments that make something great. We’re not here to replace the people who make culture. We exist to make it better.

About The Team

We’re a small, high-trust, VC-backed team where people take real ownership. We move quickly, stay close to decisions, and keep things simple with no unnecessary layers, no excess process. The bar is high, the feedback is direct, and the work is real. You’ll be working alongside people who care deeply about what they build and how they build it.

About The Role

At MakeOS, trust isn’t just built in what the product does. It’s built in how it feels to use.

Our platform handles real budgets, real decisions, real pressure. Producers move quickly, often without a safety net. The interface has to meet them there. It has to be transparent, responsive, and steady, even when everything around it isn’t.

There’s a moment we think about often. When you open a tool and, within seconds, you know you can rely on it. Nothing lags. Nothing surprises you. It just works the way you expect, even when what’s happening underneath is complex.

That’s this role.

You’ll take ownership of how our product shows up to the people using it. Not just how it looks, but how it behaves. How quickly it responds. How clearly it communicates. How it holds up when the data gets messy or the stakes get high.

You won’t be handed tickets and asked to move pixels. You’ll define how we build on the frontend. Setting standards, shaping patterns, and making decisions that impact every user interaction.

You’ll work closely with engineering across the stack,

translating complex financial systems and AI-driven workflows into something that feels simple and usable. Thinking through edge cases, performance under pressure, and the subtle details that make the difference between something that works and something people trust.

This is a role for someone who cares about how things feel in use. Someone who understands that speed, clarity, and consistency aren’t just technical outcomes, they’re what allow people to do their jobs with confidence.

What You’ll Do:

- Build and update frontend features
- Architect complex state solutions in a maintainable manner
- Ensure high UI/UX standards are set and met
- Analyze performance and optimize when necessary

Our Tech Stack:

- Python FastAPI backend
- React / MUI frontend

What We’re Looking For

- 4+ years of frontend web development experience
- Robust proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, modern CSS, frontend frameworks (React, Vue.js, etc.).
- Experience with complex, data-heavy applications using tools like Redux, Zustand, Pinia, or React Query
- Experience working on products with great UI/UX
- Nice to have: experience working in or adjacent to production

What are we offering?

The Tangibles

What does a culture fit look like

Who Thrives Here

This team isn’t for everyone. The people who do well here tend to recognize themselves in a few of these:

- You take ownership without waiting to be told what to do
- You care about the quality of your work, even when no one is watching
- You can give and receive direct, honest and constructive feedback

- You like being close to the work, not managing from a distance
- You move quickly and make decisions without perfect information
- You’re always learning, but don’t get stuck in theory
- You show up for the team, but your identity isn’t defined by your job

You may find this environment challenging if you prefer a lot of structure, consensus-driven decisions, or clearly defined lanes.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging

MakeOS is an equal opportunity employer and we’re committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. We prohibit discrimination and harassment of any kind based on ethnicity, sex, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, genetic information, pregnancy, or any other protected characteristic as outlined by federal, provincial, or local laws. You can read our Code of Conduct.

The MakeOS Principles

At the core we are here to make production easier.

1. Relentless Focus

We prioritize the few things that matter most.

Focus allows us to move faster, build deeper, and deliver meaningful progress rather than spreading effort across competing priorities.

2. Product-Level Craft

Great technology is built through disciplined attention to detail.

From architecture to interface, we pursue a standard of craft that makes the product reliable, intuitive, and built to last.

3. End-to-End Ownership

The best products emerge when the people building them take full responsibility for the outcome.

Teams own problems from concept through execution, ensuring alignment between design, engineering, and delivery.

4. Confidential by Default

Trust is built through disciplined stewardship of information.

We operate with confidentiality around our product, roadmap, and partners so teams can move quickly and customers can trust our systems.

5. User Experience Drives Everything

Technology exists to serve the user.

We design and build with the real workflows, pressures, and decisions of our users in mind, ensuring the product solves meaningful problems in the real world.
