About the Opportunity

Penalta Group Ltd. is hiring an Assistant Site Superintendent to support one of Canada’s leading deep energy building retrofit projects. Located in Toronto’s Beaches neighbourhood, this is a 21-storey, 167-unit affordable seniors housing building originally built in the 1960s.

A critical feature of this project is the tenant-in-place delivery. The building remains fully occupied throughout construction, requiring careful coordination, a resident-first approach, and high standards for safety, communication, and professionalism.

This is a permanent chance to work alongside an experienced Senior Superintendent and be part of a dedicated team delivering a technically challenging, community-focused build.

What You’ll Do

- Assist in daily coordination of site activities, including subcontractors, deliveries, inspections, and mast-climber operations
- Enforce safety protocols and support a clean, organized, and compliant jobsite in an occupied residential setting
- Track deficiencies, support quality assurance on envelope, mechanical, and electrical work, and ensure timely resolution
- Liaise with residents, property management, consultants, and internal teams with professionalism and empathy
- Maintain daily reports and documentation using Procore and other project management tools
- Support lookahead scheduling and assist in identifying risks or constraints proactively, particularly around resident impacts and phased construction sequencing
- Coordinate with envelope, mechanical, electrical, demolition, and access solutions subtrades on a complex, multi-system worksite
- Uphold clear communication and teamwork on a fast-paced, sensitive site

What You Bring





- 3+ years of site-based construction experience in a supervisory or coordinator role
- Experience working on occupied buildings, retrofit/renovation projects, or high-rise construction
- Familiarity with building envelope systems, mast-climbing platforms, or exterior cladding work is a strong asset
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- A calm, professional demeanour, especially when engaging with residents or resolving site issues in a sensitive environment
- Working knowledge of OHSA safety standards and construction processes
- Familiarity with Procore or similar construction software is an asset
- G-class license and reliable access to the GTA
- A willingness to grow into a future leadership role

Nice to Have

- Experience on energy retrofit, or sustainability-focused construction projects
- Experience working with vulnerable populations (e.g., seniors, social housing tenants)
